Self explanitory, just wondering what most of you do with your old games or just games you never play in general anymore.

I have a bunch i.e. Silent Hunter II, Destroyer Command, Panzer Elite, EAW, BF1942, and many Janes games.

I dont feel they are bad games but why play EAW when I have the entire IL2 series? BF42 when I have Call of Duty? etc. Right now they just sit in a file cabinet after giving me countless hours of enjoyment.

Games that have a better successor(?) just get put aside...but stuff with no replacement, like Silent Hunter, are still played after watching some movie where afterwards I'm sitting there saying "Dang, I wanna be that guy!" Next thing you know, I'm a Submarine Captain....or whatever...

The old, old incredibly old-school games often have an extraordinanary replayability. I recently downloaded the emulator "dosbox" to play my old "finest hour", SWOTL, AOE, AOTP and 1942PAW, I play them when I want to feel like a little kid again http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif
I still play EAW (though my copy of it has got some graphic flaws http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif) In many aspects such as number of planes, fading horizon and cool radiochatter EAW is still ahead of FB/ACE/PF http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif
But since this october, it's just been PF for me http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Is there such a thing as a Flight Simulator collector?

If so I have pristine boxed copies of Chuck Yeager's Air Combat (DOS, 2x 3.5" disk) and Eurofigher 2000 (DOS, CD) for sale.

First, I will ask my self if I'll ever play this game again. If not, then it gets tossed into the garbage. I have had a C+C Generals withdral this month, and I have reinstalled the game. lol

I still have the FB box and the FB gold pack box lol. Thems never getting tossed.

I take them down to a used comouter store and either sel hem or give them to her in the hopes that someone my get some enjoyment out of them. After CFS 3 I basically have only bought 5 games (I had IL2 just before CFS 3)...... Warbirds FAA (so so),FB,AEP,BoE,PF and CoD. I think I will go ahead and get CoDTFH... oh..... and LOMAC.. I did buy LOMAC. Thats pretty much all the gaming I need or have time for... and I have yet to do CoD other than the demo I DLd about a year ago...... the only reason I bought it was that it was on sale at BB for $9.99.

I keep them all in a pile in the computer room that grows like ther Tower of Babel, and put a "touch this and die" warning on it.

Pisses off my sweetie to no end. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

"But you never play with these any more!"

"What's that got to do with it?"

I install them on an old puter I don't use anymore.
Merely jesting.
I bring 'm back to the shop where I get a ridiculous discount for them when I buy new stuff. But I still have my graphically awful Red Baron though.

I give them to my sisters son. He has a brand new computer but his only source for "new" games is me so he's about 1 years behind the currently released games http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif May sound abit harsh but this way i can keep feeding him "new" games on a constant basis w/out it costing me my shirt http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

If you people kept cfs3 installed long enough to download the addons for it, you might actually like it*sighs*

I keep pretty much all my old games around, I'm too nostalgic about all the fun i had with them. I have a big trunk filled with cd cases of everything from the original myst to max payne.

How do you guys trade them in at stores? When I go to Gamestop they will take my PS2 games but will never touch a used computer game. Something about copywrite protection or something.

Sapre, I like BF1942 also, however when I have a kick to play as a ground troop during WWII I like COD better just for the weapons (looking down the sights) and just the more realistic feel of COD over BF1942. But yes I too agree that BF42 is a fun game.

Spinner, EF2K was a blast. I loved the electronics in that sim. But didn't the atmosphere(literally) seem very gloomy to you? As I remember it, it always seemed so dark and cloudy. The Terrain-following flight mode was a hoot. The explosions were really cool too. Lining up the pickle release thru the MFD on that sim was extraordinary. The working cannards were neat also. Makes me want to load it back up again. That was made by DID wasn't it?

I got 80 bucks in money back by selling all my old Janes games online at ebay. Get this some Joe paid be 30 bucks for JF18 cus it was in such good condition. He then resells it to China and elsewhere for as new price. Really cool though.

When I'm getting frustrated or bored with whatever I'm playing now, I often fire up one of the older games. It has one of two effects:

1. It's so bad it reminds me how good the current stuff is and refreshes me zest for it; OR
2. It's still fun and I have a pleasant time away from my current furstration, refreshing my zest for the current stuff. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I also sometimes loan them to close friends or family members.

On the list (current & old) are:

EAW
CFS2
CFS
Delta Force
Silent Hunter / Silent Hunter II
Destroyer Command
MOHAA
CoD / CoDUO
Thief Gold (wont install on XP http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif)
Thief II / Thief Deadly Shadows
Ghost Recon
Red Faction / Red Faction II
Half Life / Team Fortress / CS
Grand Prix Legends
Myst / Exile / Riven / Uru
LOMAC
OFP
RtCW
Falcon 4.0
Hidden & Dangerous / H&D II
America's Army
Rowan's BoB

I'm sure to have missed some, but you get the idea... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I save them. Every one of them. I have like two large boxes that vacume cleaners came in filled to the top. Every one has it's box, manuals, etc. I have given some to my older brother who finally got a pc after he got into his 50's. Some I will never get rid of.
I thought about going to EB's to sell some but I was a little embarressed to bring in a hand truck with two large boxes of games on it. Plus only getting $2-$5 for them I think I would rather give them away. Most are a variety of flight, FPS, and racing sims.
I like to look at them from time to time to remind me how much money I blew on games in the past years. I was glad when they switched to the smaller boxes they put games in now.

I have a pentium 1 with Dos 6.2 loaded on it, and the older games are installed there. I use a switch box linking two pcs to one set of monitor/mouse/keyboard and can play them when ever I feel like it. Old favourites are SWOTL, and Tornado. Doom, Doom2. Redneck Rampage.
