View Full Version : 3rd party A/C for BoB

i was just wondering if the BoB team has released any information about the requirements/limitations for the planes planned for BoB, if 3rd party A/C will be allowed, and perhaps a list of planned A/C. i imagine 3rd party modellers will need more time to complete an A/C as the detail level will be higher, giving them more time to do this would surely be a good thing.

I've heard nothing is finalized yet,as far as poly count, etc. I certainly hope 3rd party modellers will be able to work their magic with BoB,but until they know more about the specifics, their hands are tied right now.

Besides, whats the rush? Theres plenty of aircraft to work on for FB still.

BoB is still around two years away from us seeing it sitting on our hard drives (and most likely chewing our systems to pieces).

Oleg has requested that 3rd party people do things like buildings, cars, monuments, anything really that would fit the time. Not sure on the specs but it looks like whoever does a third party airplane is going to have to spend more time on it to complete everything - I guess the tradeoff is that they can be more liberal with details.

no rush at all really, i really enjoy FB and i'm looking forward to the add on. just thought it maybe if modellers had better time to do their work, deadlines would be reached more easily. as we all know certain A/C won't make it in the next add on for FB, which is unfortunate for those of us who value a large number of flyables. i'm not complaining about the number of flyables in FB, far from it, but it would be a shame if some of the excellent work out there won't be used.

No spacifics yet. Some of the vet IL2 modelers have been invited to make models for BoB, but I doubt I will. Its just WAY too much research and work for 1 man, or a small team even!!! I think the days of small modelers adding things into big games is over. The level of detail and workload required on todays modern game is just overwealming for an indivigual to take on in his spare time!

I don't think it is that bad. In fact I think we have enough to make a BoB quality Ju-88 A-1. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I takes a long time to research and will result as fewer planes, but nevertheless it is quite possible. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

maybe someone on these boards have the required history knowledege to but together a list of A/C that should be included in BoB, based on the events of the RL BoB? One can only hope for a large number of A/C, but this new sim is somewhat limited to the events it is intended to recreate, IMO...

looking forward to the Wellington, my first ever 1/72 model A/C http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

With the inclusion of the Wellington, it seems to me BoB will cover more than just..uh...the Battle of Britain. I also hope the future for the independent 3rd party modeller isn't as bleak as Gib implies.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
