Greetings All!

Kinda old topic but opinions are changing every day lol. I would like to know what community thinks about following general settings on DF servers @Hyperlobby. All in favor of improving Online gaming.

1) Plane sets. I`v been asked quiet a few times to change plane set from axis vs allies to free for all, allowing all plane types on either side... Still standing by Axis vs Allies scenario, but curious of what you think about it.

2) Padlock.. I own tIR and it`s a tough call for me... personally i do not need padlock at all... but many people apparently do need it. On or Off?

3) Maps: Large maps? Medium? Small? How many bases? Any particular favorites?

4) Ground targets: How many locations? 1,2,3? Columns or spread around?

5) Year selection: Limited plane sets? All planes? No jets?

6) Time of the year, Winter or Summer?

7) Time of the day?

8) Foe icons:
Full icons?
No icons?
With either one... what is prefered, meaning dot range, tag range, type range...and so on

9) Friend icons:
Full icons?
No icons?
With either one... what is prefered, meaning dot range, tag range, type range...and so on.

10) Other suggestions.

I would really appriciate any input and not going to argue with people`s take on difficutly settings, maps ...etc. Will simply take it under consideration.

BTW, VFC*HOST , as many of you already know went dedicated.

Prefer medium or larger maps. Some time to adjust and get good alt before combat,

A column for each side, plus a train, and some tanks etc. to flesh out the front lines.

Any year, 1943 and earlier if I don't want jets, 1944 and onwards if I feel like it.

I like the smallish maps myself. No preferences about time of year, but early morning/evening tend to be my favorite times to fly.

One thing that most may appreciate (or maybe not): put bombers at the furthest fields and make note of this in the briefing.

Using the map I got from you, I once had light/fast fighters at forward fields, heavy fighters/ light bombers at mid-distant fields, and heavy (relative) bombers at distant fields. Most everone like it. People that cry about vulching absolutly hated the challenge of having to fly something different one things got ugly, but most people enjoyed the server. The ground units are what make it the most fun, if you ask me.

Im not so sure, but I think adding lots of ground objects will decrease client frame rates and or cause lag. I hosted a map with ground objects and there was sizeable lag. (-However I dont know about on a dedicated server-.)

And my system is a bit old, 1.6ghz 512 ram Geforce 3.

(I can actually run in perfect mode decent, but I still need to get it upgraded.)

Probably not GU's but AAA. Ivans maps have lots of ground units but no lag. I think this is only an issue with units that fire at planes.

1) axis v allies every time except for single plane type for everyone
2) padlock on. I have TrackIR but there are those that don't
3) small maps for pure dogfights, medium for ground targets, large tend to lose people, I've been on some and not seen anyone for 15-20 mins. not keen on the finland online map, too many small bits of land or sea, I keep getting lost
4) yes, set a scenario and add accordingly. keep them on the move if poss, make people work for it /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
5) any year, just select planes appropriate for time. jets in 1945, why not?
6) both
7) anything except night
8) no
9) friendly icons only, no name or type, close range
10)bomber bases furthest from front line with extra aaa protection - gives them a chance to get some altitude

Cheers!

1) Plane sets. I`v been asked quiet a few times to change plane set from axis vs allies to free for all, allowing all plane types on either side... Still standing by Axis vs Allies scenario, but curious of what you think about it.

Kinda like it when its authentic. HAving said that it can cause a few problems with oddly proportioned teams now that people tend to favour the Russian planes.

2) Padlock.. I own tIR and it`s a tough call for me... personally i do not need padlock at all... but many people apparently do need it. On or Off?

I try to join servers that have it OFF but only because I don't use it myself and so would prefer if other players didn't have an advantage over me!

3) Maps: Large maps? Medium? Small? How many bases? Any particular favorites?

Small the MEdium, don't have hours and hours to play and it can get frustrating flying a long way into combat over and over if, like me, you tend to die a lot /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

4) Ground targets: How many locations? 1,2,3? Columns or spread around?

Whatevers clever.

5) Year selection: Limited plane sets? All planes? No jets?

Would be nice if we could have a 2 year 'band' within which any type of plane that was built is selectable. Yeah its a challenge flying a 38 plane aainst a '44 FW but generally I'm not much for masochism.

6) Time of the year, Winter or Summer?

Don't mind.

7) Time of the day?

Here I definetly DO mind. Too many maps seem to just use the default setting of midday. Morning and evening have some stunning skylines and would help provide a little variety to the eyes if more hosts selected them.

8) Foe icons:
Full icons?
No icons?
With either one... what is prefered, meaning dot range, tag range, type range...and so on

HAted not having map icons at first but I'm coming around to the idea. Prefer having the enemy picked out for me against the sky though. Tags have to come much later than the dot, or not at all maybe because they are a little jarring on the realism.

9) Friend icons:
Full icons?
No icons?
With either one... what is prefered, meaning dot range, tag range, type range...and so on.

Same as above.

10) Other suggestions.

I REALLY dislike servers tha don't allow external views. Firstly I like watching other pilots to see if I can pick up any tips- its like having your own mini war movie! Secondly, its a little shallow I know, but I have an F3/wait 4 seconds/F1 macro on my stick so that I can see the plane I'm flying in all its glory. Miss the eye candy when external views aren't on!

1. Plane sets: I like Axis vs. Allies, but don't really care about who is flying what as long as All Axis fly with one marking and all Allies fly with one marking (e.g., German vs. Russian). I feel this adds to the fun of identifying the good from the bad without leading to too much confusion.
2. Padlock. I think I just need to get this TrackIR thing for Christmas ;-). I've been trying to use my hat switch (no padlock) and frequently can't find or keep track of anybody.
3. Maps. Just NOT large and more than one base per side.
4. Ground targets. They are fun if incorporated into the goal of winning. (I can't hit them worth a darn in my little fighter, however). Got to have AA on the airfields but not a lot of it (it shouldn't be impossible to fly over it without getting shot down).
5. Although it is fun to sometimes try out other airplanes, I barely have enough time to figure out the FM on one plane, let alone ones from different years. So I think not limiting year selection is a good thing (I fly a 1944 plane and frequently can't find it online).
6. Winter or summer? don't care.
7. Time of day? Just not night or too close to dusk or dawn.
8. Foe icons. NONE.
9. Friend icons. None or minimal (range restricted)
10. The most important thing that adds a ridiculously high amount of fun for me is VOICE COMMS. Optimally, two channels (one for each side) on an RW server or Teamspeak or something, but a place where each side can get on voice comms. This adds so much to the game (calling for help, coordinating attacks, identifying bogies and friendlies, etc.). Usually, the best time for giving someone a heads up message is when you are fully engaged (attacking or on heavy defense) and typing = DYING. Can you set this up on your server?

Thanks.

1. Planesets : I like to have axis vs allied. No jets.

2. Padlock: No padlock. And yes i do own trackir, but me it makes no difference if you have it or not. There are many other options to control your views out there. Before i had trackir, i still prefered to fly with no padlock. To me is radar.

3. Maps: No real preference, as long as they are laid out well and provide entertainment.

4. Ground Targets: I think this falls in with the maps myself. There are alot of ppl that like to fly bombers, might as well give them something to destroy http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

5. Year Selection : not really to picky here. I do prefer to not see jets though. As for the others, all planes have their strengths and weaknesses. It makes a good pilot to learn what they are and to use them to your advantage.

6. Time of year : Dont care

7. Time of day: Dont care as long as the maps/missions are well laid out.

8. Foe Icons: I prefer them off. Especially if external views are on (which i prefer to be off)

9. Friendly Icons: ON but limited to 2k or so. None of us are that good to see what kind of plane we are looking at on these lil monitors http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

10. Other suggestions: I like to have minimap paths on as well. I find that it very hard to navigate using the maps that we have provided in the game. The maps do not have any Markers on them so you can figure out where you are. If i remember correctly, WW2 pilots wrote all kinds of information on their maps to help in their navigations. Locations of large buildings, particular bridges, farms, anything that stands out. We dont have that option.

10b. More suggestions: EVERYONE GET THE LAUNCHER SET UP http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I really like that communications idea... Gonna dig into TS Server setup and see if it allows multiple channels. I got plenty of bandwidth to run both, dedicated server and TS Server. Needless to say that dedicated server uses only 2-4% of bandwidth with full load of players. Sweet.

Will look at it tonight.

Hello crazyivan1970

I am not fussy because I play by the mood I am in. I offer these suggestion to help your feedback quest!.

1. Plane sets free for all but excluding jets.

2. I don't know about the good and bad bits of padlock so I cant comment on that, but I would say off.

3. I like to play medium maps with a selection of 4 bases so you can't get vulched too much, also because if means you can get high or stay low for fighting depending on the methods you wish to choose.

4. Ground targets always encorage others to the same area and I like to see 2-3 areas.

5. The Year selection I like is any as long as it has a Focke Wulf in it.

6. I like summetime or winter and like them to alternate with different missions if possible.

7. Time of day, any daylight, dawn or dusk, but not night!.

8. Enemy Icons, None.

9.Friendly Icons, I like friendly icons only at limited range of 2km or less with minimal information.

I like the Perrenegger server on Hyperlobby, 2-4 airbases for each side, a designated fighting area, missions contained within the fighting area (which is outlined in Orange for better clarity).

I have to say that I would never fly on a single server on a regular basis, because I move around to find what I like ... and I don't know what that may be until I find it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Thank you for taking the time to get feedback and take in considerations before you make your decissions. I look forward to visiting soon.

hope this helps in some way!

Plane set: I like Axis vs. Allies, or Axis vs. Russian vs. Western Allies, or even DU vs Ru vs. US vs. GB. It's good to have a few maps running script that include different years in the planeset.

PL: I like PL, and think that it's fair (especially w/ it's built in limitations and new 3km limit) I don't have TIR, but my X45's mouse cursor + Hat switch keeps me competitive in no PL servers. So I join servers w/ or w/o it.

Maps: keep the bases relatively far apart, placing them too close together really gives some AC a disadvantage because they have no opportunity to climb (P47, 109, 190, Mig3)

Ground targets: I love Mudmover maps because it encourages using non-DF AC (He-111, Ju87, IL2, TB3) it's good to have a few isolated ground targets (tanks, convoys, ships) as well as area targets (factories, train stations) It's good to keep these targets in out of the way locations, so bombers don't have to wade through the mix on the way to and from target.

Year selection: It's good to have several maps on script to cycle through different years.

Time of the Year: I like both, Remember winter maps make enemies more visible.

Time of day: I like maps that start at dawn or dusk so you experience a shift; once again, scrips allow for variety

foe Icons: I prefer no enemy icons, or at least icons w/ very limited range (2-3km) Dot should be default.

Friendly Icons: I like friendly icons to show callsighn or tail number, so I can keep up w/ my wingman.

Really Ivan, I like the settings you already have /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Realism settings are what draw me to try a new server, but what keeps me coming back is a good group of friendly players w/ a positive attitude. Your server draws a good crowd Ivan. Your VFC boys are a blast and the other regulars like those MOH guys really make your server enjoyable /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif keep up the good work.

Nice questions, really.

1) Stay with allies vs. axis please. Nothing is a bigger immersion killer then to fight a 109 in a 109. Sure, DF maps usually can´t be taken serious anyways...but with moxed planesets the last barrier of battle feeling is crushed.

2) Padlock padlock! don´t care for icons or outside view. But padlock is a must. I just "can´t" keep other planes inmy sights, despite a now 2 years training. Once i change a further 45 degeress the guy vanishes, andits pur eluck for me to spot him again. Not to speak of my occupied hands else responsible for throttle, pitch and trimming. All a nono with padlock disabled.

3)Maps depend on the played szenario i guess. I don´t know what you intend with your maps..play something historical, semi - historical or just plain fun.

4)see 3)

5)I always like year selections. Open time frame usually only the6 top uber planes are selected. I love the eras from 39 to 43 as much nevertheless.

6)Winter maps are underepresented imho. So i´d really like to see some more of those. Regardimng the landscape modelling of IL2, it gives a more realistic feeling to me as well.

7)All but night. Don´t like nights at all.

8+9)As i said, i personally don´t care for icons. I
am flexible on this one. Just do it as you like.

10) I always liked scripts. Having something to ight for, bringing a meaning and extra motivation to the fight. Even more important, a good thought of map layout: Once one side won, the next map reflects that in changed frontlines and such. I saw some pretty nice servers doing exactly this.

Regards

My setups would be:

1. Axis vs Allies absolutely.

2. Padlock sky-scanner should be left out. Snap-vies are good enough.

3. Preferably large maps. If map is small then at least 3 bases, if the map is large 1-2 will do.

4. Some soft targets too as cannonfodder.

5. Absolutely limited sets. 42 - 43 is the best range. And restricted planesets leaving those rare and overmodeled planes out. For example G6/AS and La-5FN's should be left out. Only most common planes.

6. no consequence

7. not night

8. Grey at 1km, colored at 300-500m or preferably no foe icons at all

It is obvious that some of you people have real hole in your common knowledge.

There is no better set than VEF gives you. Full real, virtual war where players actions can change the course of ongoing attack.

I have never sweated in il2 dogfights or coops, I tell you in a good VEF your sweating almost like a real pilot (ok mayby not, but there is alot of adrealine going on) /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif .

Try it if you think your good enought, but I must warn you, pilot quality in online wars is way different than in your average dogfight.

Medium to large, time to climb.

That was un-called for. Obviously you know very little about quality of the pilots in so-called "average" dogfights. This is only your opinion and at least not to try abuse everyone with it.

1. Axis v allies with correct markings.

2. No padlock. I use tIR but only ever play in cockpit. So it's still easy to loose sight of target.

3.Large to medium maps. 3-4 bases.

4.Gotta have ground targets. I like flying the bombers. Theres nothing better than a few bombers being escorted to a target. enemy fighters seem to enjoy it to for the amount of times I never RTB /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

5.All planes. No Jets.
Flew with you the other day crazyivan on a ded server, which only had 2 plane choices per side. It fell a bit flat did'nt it?

6. Not fussed. Winter,summer.

7 Not fussed again. day or night. Used to like TXs night senario/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

8. Enemy Icons OFF!
Any chance of a surprise attack is ruined with enemy icons.

9. Freindly icon on.
Name is always handy. helps to know who your trying to talk to.

10. Some way the server can kick team killers and the Ba*** cases who think it's fun to shot you down when your parachute.

I like late war. Probably without jets, but I wouldn't really mind them. I'd like if the early war planes could be removed but I don't know if it's possible.

- 2) Padlock.. I own tIR and it`s a tough call for

With pl ( I don't have tIR), and I hate using the mouse and hat switch isn't really convenient in fight.

- 3) Maps: Large maps? Medium? Small? How many bases?

Finland is annoying. Ever time I went on those I didn't see anyone (and I didn't get lost).

- 4) Ground targets: How many locations? 1,2,3?
- Columns or spread around?

I don't care, I don't attack them. Flak is nice though.

- 5) Year selection: Limited plane sets? All planes?
- No jets?

Anything as long as you can fly a Dora /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

- 6) Time of the year, Winter or Summer?

No preference.

- 7) Time of the day?

Middle of the day, I have a very old 15" monitor, and dusk or dawn make it near impossible to see ennemy planes against the ground.

- 8) Foe icons:
- Full icons?
- No icons?

I like friendly icons, say under 1 km or maybe 500 m. I like to see the player's name too and his plane

None

- FR icons only (2 km)
- large map so you have chance to gain some alt and get
to target from any direction
- more then 1 AB fro each side, moderate flak (for sake of fps), vulching allowed at own risk...
- full planeset up to selected year including jets
- some ground target others then airfields for mudmovers
- preferably scripted missions

I forgot to say I hate padlock, no cockpit and the sam eplaneset for both sides - and no I have not any not common dadgets, usng only Cyborrg 3D USB, keyboard and wheeled mouse for viewing/throttling...

hello

All in favor of improving Online gaming here's my opinion.

1) Plane sets. Axis vs Allies scenario with correct markings. Yanks vs Japs, or Finland vs Russia etc is good but only what is history.

2) Padlock Off.

3) Maps: Medium size maps with forward and rear bases, absolute minimum 2 bases each side. (unless the scenario is that one army is finally enclosed ready for utter destruction...)

4) Ground targets:
Dug in along the front, hard to find and kill but in obvious location on the map because of front lines.
Supply Column(s) in the rear.
At least one contested own/area/hotspot in the front lines with ground war active. At least 3 locations with ground targets: at the front/rear/airbases.

5) Year selection: Limited plane sets no jets. Plane set with year restictions.

- 6) Winter and occasional Summer.
-
- 7) Time of the day? A cycle of maps from first-light to last-light in a day sequence will have one map near midday of course but otherwise avoid it please! Longer shadows and the colours are not to be missed.
-
- 8) Foe icons:
- no enemy icons ever
-
- 9) Friend icons:
short friendly icons, 500m, plane type and call-sign only
-
- 10) Other suggestions.

Front lines can be used to put information onto the in-flight maps when map icons and flight-path are both off.

The ground war is what powered the air war, the game is most interesting with the ground war included. No ground war means it hardly matters what direction you extend or dissengage in. The objective of the flying missions must be to support a rich dynamic story we imagine on the ground. Support the fantasy with detailed frontlines on the map and visible gunfire around contested zones.

Keep the ground war scenario and the air-war connected and semi-quasi-historical if you host missions on the geographic maps. Zero's vs brewsters over helsinki? no thanks! But zero's versus the p40's over a fantasy scenario on the tropic maps? yes of course. Thanks for reading/hosting.

1) Plane sets:

Keep correct sets for each side

2) Padlock:

On, don't use it but others do.

3) Maps:

I like the larger maps. I enjoy gaining altitude before a fight, I enjoy being able to sneak round the back of a base and dropping bombs. With bases, it should be 2-3 with fighters at the front and bombers at the back.

4) Ground targets: How many locations? 1,2,3? Columns or spread around?

Ground targets make a server. Otherwise it just becomes a duel in the sky and pretty boring. The other nigght for example, there were plenty of ground targets so a couple of IL2's started attacking them. This attracted the enemy and then protection for the IL2's. So by the end of it you had planes protecting the bombers and planes trying to get through the screen. Mucho fun.

5) Year selection:

Not fussed.

6) Time of the year, Winter or Summer?

Not fussed, although I find winter a bit boring.

7) Time of the day?

Variable please

8) Foe icons:

Not sure here, I find it very hard with icons off as I just can not identify the planes yet.

9) Friend icons:

its def nice to have friendly names on so we can shout warnings..

10) Other suggestions.

I like the servers where there are bombers. I want to see more flights of ME111's protected by 109's and attack them.

Too many servers just become a take off, get to 300 metres and start fighting. Theres no point in gaining altitude, theres no sneaking about. its just a furball.

Apart from that, I seem to enjoy every server I join and the most important thing is to have a good crowd of pilots with bad aim :-)

medium

few ships, trucks and armor spread around

1943 is best for fun play and good balance. Maybe "better" planes on rear airfields so if u must scramble then u dont get a-5 or la5f.. That way we get more planetypes in air

- 6) Time of the year, Winter or Summer?

Summer is nicer.. it is cold outside and I hate it already. Lets keep it warm /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

no night action plz, all other times are ok.

Planetype at 500m, name at 250m or no icons at all. Only reason I want friendly icons is I hate when I get nailed by a teammate and get the "i'm sorrys" afterwards.

- 10) Other suggestions.

About 3 airbases with one near combat zone and 2 in the rear so you can play a quickie or get to 7k for some b'n'z

Planesets according to airfield: better planes farther from the front.

Thanks for a great server Crazyivan! It's nice that someone is willing to listen to players needs and act accordingly /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif great job and keep the server running!

- Still standing by Axis vs Allies scenario, but

Axis vs. Allies. Allows you to exploit the other side's weaknesses better and more realistically. Plus, seeing an IL-2 with a swastika on it's tail is just freaky.

- 2) Padlock.. I own tIR and it`s a tough call for
- me... personally i do not need padlock at all... but
- many people apparently do need it. On or Off?

Either. I used to prefer it on, but since I've been playing a lot on servers with it off I've learned to handle myself quite well without it. I wouldn't mind the extra help though...

- 3) Maps: Large maps? Medium? Small? How many bases?
- Any particular favorites?

Medium. I like it when there's time to gain altitude and possibly form up before meeting the enemy, but 10 minute flights across huge bodies of water are just annoying.

- 4) Ground targets: How many locations? 1,2,3?
- Columns or spread around?

Yep. Either some vehicles/buildings or parked planes to bomb. Gives a bit more variety and allows you to use the bombers in the game too.

- 5) Year selection: Limited plane sets? All planes?
- No jets?

Any year, as long as the planesets are appropriate for that year. I prefer realism myself, so don't want to see a 1944 plane in a 1942 server.

- 6) Time of the year, Winter or Summer?

Whatever. Some variety is always nice.

- 7) Time of the day?

Anything but dark. I hate night flying - can't see d*ck during the dark and can barely takeoff and land, let alone shoot anything down.

- 8) Foe icons:

No icons.

Friendly icons on, name only, low range (around 2-3 miles).

- 5) Year selection:

Limited historically. See 1)

- 6) Time of the year, Winter or Summer?

No pref

- 7) Time of the day?

No pref.

- 8) Foe icons:
- 9) Friend icons:

FOR MAP:
No icons

FOR COCKPIT:
Pilot names only and range limited. BTW does FB let you have foe icons OFF and friendly icons (range limited) ON?

BTW, what do you guys mean when you say "dots"????? Can the cockpit icons of friendly/enemy planes be just viewed as dots (as opposed to names etc?)

Keep up the good work of designing and hosting good OL battles.

Bombers at rear, fighters forward is good. Medium size for preference.

Not too many, and not too much AA, to limit lag. Type - don't mind. Columns are fun to go for though. :-)

Yes, limit planes by time period. Jets fine in late war server.

what i find so funny is all the track ir users want padlock off. lol
hmmmmmm lst give our selves an even bigger advantage.
i really dislike the "full real" servers. No fun for me at all. IMO full real = Full Boring. it shouldn't even be called full real. It should be called "full difficult"
cause it's not Full Real. Even Oleg has said that.
as for myself....

Preferd settings at the momment are:
Cockpit on
Enemy Icons off
Freindly icons at short range
limited dot range
externals on
padlock on
CEM on
engine start on
bases & white plane on the mini map.
(so what if i cant navigate worth a damn)

i'm kinda happy with those and so i'm going to stick with those for a while. it's a happy median. not to diffcult, but still a little bit of a challange. I can fly the "full difficult" settings...even have a few kills on those...as a matter of personal preferance....i dont like them. & i suppose that's why i'm not more active in the online wars. The sttings are to strict. that's one of the thing about Ghost Skies. I like so much. there are no settings requirments. the settings for each battle depend on the reams involved & can eith be full difficult or more relaxed. The settings are decided by the 2 opposing squads prior to the begining of the match. & really i think that's a much better way of doing things.

Not a big Fan of DF servers - COOP stuff for me mostly.

I'm also a TrackIR user so I can catagorically disagree with the above post - usual TrackIR bashing broad brush crapola /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I (well, JG5) fly Full-Real / Full-Difficulty - whatever. All our kills are in this mode and in fact our kills only count in this mode /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

When I launch a COOP game though I have a few things I like to do to make sure everyone has a good game - this isn't really going to work for DF servers with people joining and leaving...

I ASK people what they want - simple. When I launch I wait in the "choose a mission" screen until everyone has joined. Then I ask if people want the following:

Padlock : Matter of preference (I'm the only TrackIR user in JG5 - but none of our pilots use Padlock anyway) if people want it ON they can have it, if not it stays off. You would be surprised at how many pilots on HL think that padlock is cheating /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif the ROSS guys for example will not fly missions with it switched on.

Mini-Map Path: No trouble navigating by sight for me and my squad mates, use cities and rivers etc to do it. However we fly 109's primarily and we have a good compass /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif So I ask if people want it on.
This is primarily for Yak Drivers as I know their compass is crap, or for people who just need a backup. Doesn't bother me, so they can have it.

Speedbar : I have it switched off anyway (don't like/need it) but again in some aircraft it can be VERY difficult or impossible to see the compass (Like Yaks) so for those guys who want it, they can have it.

================================================== ========

The obviously not stuff :

Externals : No Way. I can't step out of a Cessna and take a look can I? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif I wouldn't mind "Externals When Dead" so people can look around after we shoot them down /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif But I don't think this will happen in FB - so no externals. BTW The EAF squad play with externals ON and are gentlemen who do not use the feature until they are shot/down or have bailed out etc - Good Chaps.

Icons : Nope. I personally think they look Ugly. Yeah I know they can be modified and tweaked etc but for me they are an immersion killer.

So there you have it if these are the kind of settings you like and you in Hyperlobby on Wed/Sun nights 21:00 hrs GMT onwards then you might run into us. COOP games (mostly fighter vs fighter) with the above settings.

All IMHO of course but these are the settings we enjoy /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Hi Ivan. Do some early war scenarios. The late stuffs been done to death. Want to see how the early russians are modelled. Anyway I like full real with some form of Icons. Our virtual world is not as in real life so we need like limited icons of some sort. I like when the aircraft number is only shown. The player should id the type himself. Maybe only for friendlies.
