This may have come up before I apologise if it has. But I feel there is a need for a World War One mod/supplement. You have written a very powerful and well-crafted engine. Many people me included loved-flying WW1 Sims but none compare to the level of freedom felt within the Il2 serries. Perhaps, with out being impolite is it possible to ask what you think of writing a WW1 mod/supplement to keep us die hard sim fans hooked.

Oleg thinks that 1940 comes before 1914, and I agree http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

some modellers wanted to make a WW1 addon for the old IL-2, but the project died about one year ago or so because of a lack of interest. Remember, the main part of this with the most work will be on Oleg's team, which have to code FM, DM and implement the 3D models.

One obstacle is the cost of the 3D studio. Very.

Perhaps after BoB, if 1C and UBI are both willing and noticing that development of the
basic sim engine is already done at AEP. There is no need to worry about CEM or 10km
altitude region or compression effects. Everything simpler and slower except for one
thing not in IL2 series, tearing and torn fabric.

There is also the lack of hard data on flight compared to even WWII.
And not so many of the building plans.
But I for one of many can live with compromises in those areas.

pitty really, i would love a WW1 mod/suppliment. The drawings are no problem to get your hands on at all if you look. Model aircraft enthusisats love WW1 aircraft and thus all plans for such aircraft where publicilly made availble years ago.
Specification data is a bit of a problem i must admit but im not sure that a bit of guess work would go a miss. Ripped canvas is a pain, can't think of an answer to that one... But im thinking....

I've been there at La Ferté Alais in 2003 and 2004, and the Memorial Flight is awesome.

The crew were struggling trying to start this Blériot XI in your pic, but it wouldn't start. One Frenchman standing before me pointed to them and commented: 'La Patrouille de France!' http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif My French wasn't that good, but we had quite a laugh afterwards, even though I didn't even know the guy... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Eventually it did start and it was a joy to see in flight http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif As were the SPAD XIII and Se5a flying in formation with their real V8 Hispano-Suiza engines http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Fantastic! I wish I was there to see them fly .... the videos are just awesome.

Knowing well the crew at Old Rinebeck Aerodrome in Rhinebeck, NY, I did get to fly their Fokker D-VIII replica with a 160 hp Gnome rotary engine around the field afew times. White scarf, face full of caster oil, burrr.. burrr ....

Actually it did come up!
A massive petition was made. Oleg said OK. and work was started by the third party on a 1914-1920 Russian front. Several aircraft were completed, but Oleg said he would only do it if the third party produced something like at least seven finished aircraft.

They only finished around two.
Thus it ends...at least until 2007-9 when Oleg might return to it!

I would like to see the IL-2 series engine licenced by a third party or two, by the end of its development, when BoB is published. We could then see other WWII theatres, WWI, SCW, and even Korea. I'd certainly buy them all, along with BoB and relative add-ons, sequels.

I am not sure if it`s set in stone... but that was one of the options, because alot of 3rd party AC is still in development.

Hum such a pitty the 3rd partty team gave up. if i where to put together about 10 aircraft would that be enough to sway Oleg to let us have a WW1 mod/suppliment. Only question is how does the damage work, i read somewhere the damage is another model is this true i wonder and what format do i need the models in.

Whoa! Awesome! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Last year (2004) they didn't fly, but were sort of taxiing along the audience. They revved up the Morane-Saulnier and Dr.I with Clerget engine right in front of my nose to burn the coal, awesome, what a noise and smoke...! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Took them quite some time to clean these planes though, well lubricated http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Oleg said awhile back ago there is not enough information on wwi aircraft when alot of people were asking for a wwi addon.

I definatly do not agree with him.

Badsight.

Lead , that the WW1 planes were never going to make it isnt true

the moddelers making the planes were too few & the project stalled

the work wasnt completed is what actually happened
