View Full Version : My request for 4.09m

No it's not new planes or FM fix or anything like this but something that can give lots more fun.
Well many servers won't make the skins download "ON" available due to serious bandwidth problems that we all know.
Something fantastic would be to actually have something like a lock on the network code that share only netcache numbers and not graphics files.
This would open a lots of interest and fun.

The default skins for too many of the aircraft in this sim are, well, inaccurate for most of the maps they fly on at best, and downright awful at worst.

A shining (sorry...) example of this is the Ki61 Ko, as used on New Guinea. These aircraft were given a field applied disruptive type camo pattern on their upper surfaces (See my sig pic). They most certainly did not operate over the jungles of New Guinea in bright polished aluminum.

Something else I'd like, but I know won't happen, is a more realistic AI.

I went into the QMB last night to try to gain some insight into the 109 G2. What a waste of time. 1 v 1 me in the G2 and an AI P39D2.

The P39 just sprial climbed away from the G2, and out ran it a 7000 meters.

So I switched to the P39, and the AI in the G2 just spiral climbed away from me. Same seperation as before.

I don't understand why anyone bothers with the offline game. It's awful.

A small correction of the graphic bug when rockets R4M are used with ME262 or TA183 and anti-aliasing activated.
The problem is visible with the F3 command when the plane moves away.
This append with my radeon X1950Pro (also with x800, x850, x1900xt and x1950xtx)

Here's my small list.

1. Allow the mapmaker to place skinned static aircraft on any type of map.
2. Allow the ability to create a different textured runways as noted in here:

Funny thing

All old die hards keep giving things a go, but the disappointments are still there. LOL

The best venue for this sim is Online play, and then you need to be with a decent group of guys.

I understand the code has been hacked so the cheats will abound until 4.09 is released.

I already mentioned this in another thread...but, I would like to see the map on the seat...and it stays there, not where it is at now, up in the corner and in your field of view no matter where you look. No need to turn it on or off. It is just there to look down at it whenever you want. I guess you could still hit the "M" key to activate your mouse for the map features like we have now, but I would really like to be able to draw on the map, waypoints and such, and any other notes that I would want to put on there.

Brilliant, I would be all for that, and some way of keeping knukleheads from wearing the wrong markings would be a welcome addition to the concept.

Another offline pilot here requesting more realistic AI plane handling.

The AI seems to be able to always outfly you even with inferior aircraft. As another member here already mentioned, they just spiral climb away from you until you can no longer follow because your own plane hits its max altitude. Just as if they had rocket engines.

I'd really appreciate a fix for that.

Ah, and another must-fix for the AI:

Neither the AI's aircraft handling nor their shooting accuracy seems to be affected by weather effects. Wind, turbulence, thunderstorm ... they always fly perfectly, they always hit perfectly.

Hard to counter as human opponent.

I would like to see O & 1C make some changes to a few things before they lock the code back.. (or correct the recent... incursion into the code) like engine sounds.... gun sounds.... since the rumor mill hast it that some folks have attempted things like this... I say incorporate it into the sim officially and then lock it back. This sim, as frustrating as some things in it are to me at times, is the best thing out there and some of the little things that can make it even better like improving the sounds.. (Not that they are all that bad.. but they could honestly be better) and a few other aesthetic things will really just take it over the top. Also putting a default speedbar switch into the config file.

I know that nobody is listening to offline players, but ....

Another quirk with the AI:

can't the fellow AI pilots just refrain from diving down right in front of my nose and shooting down the opponent which I've sneaked upon so carefully and patiently? This really sucks during offline campaigns.
Maybe it could be implemented that they do not attack planes padlocked by me unless they're told to do so.

-The ability for the Bf-109 F series to carry bombs and a 20mm cannon option for the Bf-109F-2.

-More maps for the il2 quick mission builder: i think there should be some western european maps (normandy, norway or nwe) and mediterranean maps (the nice new northern africa map, it's my favorite) to fly on with the italian planes.

But I must say I'm with some of the other posters here. forget additional aircraft or loadouts or even maps (though i say that reluctantly).

Simply fix a few of the things that are blatantly wrong (not counting spelling...lmao)and incorporate a few enhancements for onliners (i.e. skin use, serverside notifications etc,..)

Sure we are.. I do both and I hear ya.. I just made a post about the Stevie Wonder AI... that doenst see that 109 blasting your plane out from under you.. as it flies right along side of it.. then warning you a few seconds before you catch fire...

without interesting missions the whole thing is wasted.....to help the mission builders make their missions more interesting...please

1. allow a delayed start on the fire/smoke objects

2. slow the ship sinking times by a factor of 5 to 10

3. a ship accrues incremental damage until it is enough to sink it..... can a ship be made to smoke after ANY damage.... and can its reload rate get slower incrementaly as its damage increases.

My request after looking at the plane's FMs I found in another site ( CWOS (http://www.acompletewasteofspace.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=14471&start=0) ): please Oleg, give the 190 the same propeller of the Ki84...

Of course I can't know how much better 190s will accelerate, but without doubt they will more realistic with a "normal" propeller (used on all the other planes) than that "high-speed" propeller (used only on German ones), above all if they was famous for their acceleration.

With almost the same engine but with different propellers:

Mc202s and Mc205s catch air faster than E4s and G2s.

Ki84s catch air A LOT faster than Antons...

My wish : on the 110, avoid that an empty fuel tank take fire.

Avoid that a burning engine that was blast off your plane and burn somewhere to the ground set your flying aircraft's wing with the missing engine on fire even if you don't see anything burn.

Give the 110 it's real speed performance at 7000 meters. It could fly level at 560 kph and not at 250 with the nose trimmed up like mad to hold the level. Service ceiling was 10 000 meters, not 8 800 meters, which is the altitude I reached with red an empty tank at 170 kph on a clean 110.

Those speeds and altitudes where the regular speeds and altitudes reached in combat conditions, not on a super light version of the 110 with no armament, fuel, passengers, paint, or whatever.

make the freaking US planes a little more durable! for christ sake to me they are the weakest planes in the game, and why i do not know. i thought armor was a top priority for US aircraft. and make the La a little less more umm... whats the word a freakin super plane. it was made out of wood like most of those russian planes, they can take more damage than the american fighters! thats messed up. and i think oleg needs to seriously look at the spits characteristics according to model, because the spit mk.V with the 4 20mm's moves incrediably well for being a heavier set spit with a weak engine. makes no sense, also why do all spits have boost? can you change the ones that didnt have WEP, ridiculous invention should be only to where you can use it for like a min. before it tears up the engine. get rid of the spit 25lbs. it shouldnt belong in the game. ridiculous invention should be only to where you can use it for like a min. before it tears up the engine. just a couple of things you know that i think need to be looked at. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

1. If the Player is the follower and the AI leader is killed, the rest of the AI flight will follow the player. Unfortunately, the player has NO way to make them RTB if he wants to. he has no commands. tis makes landing at base difficult, sometimes causing crashes with the User or destruction of AI planes.

2. Some hacker found a way to allow the pilot to get in and out of a stationary plane. While I hate hackers, could you allow the Player User to walk/run to and from his plane on start up and after leaving for a LIMTED distance around his aircraft, perhaps a virtual fifty feet? Allowing it to be in first person (WW) view would be nice too.

3. Sounds are a little weak. have you heard the I16 mgs? they sound like water gushing out, not weapons. It can`t be realistic. Can you not add more of a bullet power to them?

4. Allow a waypoint on the map without seeing the aircraft icon?

5. Give Carriers and ships a small AI like the trucks and tanks.

6. Allow even better aircraft AI and gunners that are affected by returning fire and aircraft movements.

7. When using the Acceleration mode, instead of a black screen can we have a simple print of the mission area, with waypoints to look at? A black screen cuts the user off too much from the sim

As the final hurrah to the IL2 series, enable devicelink on, as an option for online play.

Lots of people are putting together virtual cockpits, using UDPspeed, to display gauges on a second screen, but can't use it online.

Can you please please please fix the il2fb.exe shut down bug.

As you may be aware sometimes the game shut down hangs in the task management and you have to go in manually and end process in order surf the net. Il2fb.exe is still running resident in the task manager, after exiting the game. Which blocks the internets browser form accessing the internet.

Fast giro propeller spinner in BF109 and we will can see the nice efect spiral spinner, you can see this in youtube 109 videos.

Thank you sir to care about all those that enjoy to fly offline! In fact some people including myself bothered about it a long time ago, but though the patches AI didn't change.

Well I don't know what game version is it that you're playing there, but I just tested a P-39N-1 (which as you probably know is _slower_ than the D-2) against an average AI Bf-109G-2 in v4.08m, and you know what happened? The bugger never climbed anywhere but started to t'n'b on me, with the result of me PKing the bugger after some 5 mins. or so too.

Now there're planes that will try and outclimb you, but the Cobra vs. an AI G2 has _always_ been a turning match for me so far. And yeah - will post tracks, too, if you don't believe me http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

PS. And NO - none of the above makes the AI particularly _good_ in my opinion either, mind you...

1)The addition of a few missing countries- Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Norway- as selectable/playable nations. The community will add the speechpacks soon enough!
2)Possibility to add squadrons- right now they are hardcoded in the sim.
