Next week I'm leaving for a holiday in Russia, primarily in Moscow with a side trip to St. Petersburg. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif In the context of history and aviation, who could recommend some things to see while I'm there? (and don't say the Kremlin... d'uh! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif)

I don't suppose 1C:Maddox is hosting an open house in the next 4 weeks? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Moscow - I would highly recomend Monino aviation museum, definitelly a must see! But one day will pass fast.

St-Petersburg - Naval museum and Artillery museum. These two are really close so you might be able to see them at once.

There's also the Kubinka Tank Museum outside Moscow, but I believe visits have to be arranged well in advance. The museum's collection includes a Maus which must be the only complete on in the world. There seems to be an incomplete one in Belarus, though.
I could suggest the "Avrora" in St. P. as well. If you have time, you could try Krasnaya Gorka west of St. P., or Kronshtadt.

The Kremlin!

The Kubinka Tank Museum would probably be a good one to check.

Make sure you take a decent digital camera with a decent lens and flash unit and get us some shots of this stuff. You are hereby commanded to do so by the deity of your choice. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/halo.gif

At least shoot Oleg an email and ask if you could drop in for a few moments & see where it all happens & possibly meet a few of his programmers. Make sure you let him know that you aren't interested in taking up his time trying to interview him. If it were me, I would at least email him and ask m8. What's the worst that could happen? No response? Or a flat out answer of no? No big deal, eh?

Hey 'mango http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hope you have a great time over there!
I remember back when PF was still being worked upon and a fellow from the forums visited MG to see how it was all going. He said that Oleg & Co. are okay with people arranging a visit. They even let this fellow sit down and try out the latest version for a bit too. The only thing they couldn't really do was let him take photo's or video (fair enough I guess).

For sure, drop them a line. It'd be the chance of a lifetime http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Kremlin is, actually, the whole set of museums, so it is worth visiting anyway. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Apart from it, I would recommend the Moscow Polytechnical museum (which is not far from Kremlin, BTW);
Next, the museum of the Soviet/Russian army (just about 15 min of walk from Oleg's office http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif);
Then, the GPW memorial at the Poklonnaya Gora - mostly outdoor exhibition of various WWII vehicles, artillery and aircraft, offcourse.

Also Monino and Kubinka, both are, actually, outside of the city. And the later isn't very easy to get to, since it is situated on the territory of an active military base.

Thank you all for your suggestions! I will at minimum try to get to Monino museum and the Moscow Polytechnical museum. What ever I find will be heavily documented!

Mrs. Mango has also been encouraging me to drop into 1C:Maddox studio. Who/how would be the best way to get in touch with them?

I say visit the Kirsh Penninsula if spelled right. It appears to be beautiful there and of historic importance.
