What can I say, Ive been playing this game since it came out, NO game I have EVER played in single player has kept be going for so long except maybe for some of the CnC games.

After 2 careers i think its time to throw in the towel, at least for a while, simply put, Ive seen and done just about everything the game has to offer, The modding community have added some nice touches and tweaks, but SH3 is screaming for some REAL NEW content, You can only sink so many C2s before it becomes routine. Its a crying shame that and addon looks unlikley and very frustrating as the game is so near perfect- but just missing a few key features. If there ever is an addon or sequel, you bet i will be buying it.

Still Im, not complaining, SH3 is still a masterpeice and is the first Sim ive ever really enjoyed, and thats on top of it being one of the most enjoyble games ever!

I have gained a new found interest in U-boats and WW2 subs, the whole thing has been quite educational http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Im now waiting for shockwaves battle of britain 2 to come out next week (touch wood), it looks stunning and the whole strategy side of it looks nice, im hoping this game will be bring me as much long lasting fun as SH3 did.

My flatmate used to be a games producer, he has a saying that I swear by! It goes like this..
"if you buy a game and it works out roughly as 1 pound/dollar/euro per hours play or more, you got your moneys worth". That would make SH3 one hell of an investment!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

How long did play MOH pacific assault for?
maybe 3 hours before i dozes off at the keyboard. The same happened with Swat 4 and few others....

If anyone who hasnt purchased SH3 yet is reading this, stop reading and start playing..

Oh I'll still be posting on these boards -until they die! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

SH3 is one of those games that you need to play in moderation. For me, I play it maybe once a week, otherwise I play other, more "action oriented," games. I find that is a nice mix, and keeps me coming back for more SH3, rather then pushing it away and adding it to my game storage area. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hi JU88......glad to hear you've had fun....I've enjoyed reading your posts....I'm in a holding pattern myself....looks like I'll be betatesting Pacific Storm, and I'm also watching how what kind of "new" ships the modding community (sergbuto, et al) come out with to add to the game...once I've changed the SH3 world to my satisfaction, whether it be through my own mods, the expansion adding the pacific and US capital ships, and/or modders do all of the above, I will play it again.....to me the SH3 world is not complete yet...

Said the same thing about the first SH. Years later still playing it. Go figure. http://home.earthlink.net/~viner45/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/torture.gif

I seem to bounce between SH3 and Pacific Fighters. Enjoy both.

The logical add-on for SH3 would an ASW sim element, ie being able to play as an escort commander. Not only would you have to keep an eye out for U boats but you have a convoy to manage. Later in the war you would be able to go on the offensive with the hunter killer groups. May sound a little boring in 1939 since it is really a passive role but later on you would have all that air cover and stuff to follow up and call in.

I would think the current engine is capable of this just need some good AI for the U boats mainly.

I too am waiting patiently for Battle of Britian 2 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Game looks really cool. As far as SH3, yea I hear you, it does get old after a while. I kinda go through phases playing where Ill play it constantly for a while, then ack off for a while, then get back into it, so on and so forth. Thats pretty much how I am with all games.

The other game I am into big time right now again is Rome:Total War with the Rome:Total Realism Mod. Its great stuff, but the new 6.0 version of Rome:TR is a little unstable and likes to CTD a lot...at least on my system. Then again, a lot of games like to CTD on my freaking system http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

I am playing a team-based SP campaign as a WaW member. Click on my sig's WaW banner.

It has extended SH3's gamelife for me, advancing it from a sim to a role playing game as well.

It's June, 1941. Just docked back at Brest, France, from WaW patrol 8. The allies are taking a beating from us. Looking forward to their defeat. Shouldn't take more than another year or 2, at the most.

Now, I've got to spend a week's shore-leave wisely. So, if you'll excuse me...................

Be carefull to read about all the changes this mod makes to the game. It pretty much will COMPLETELY change the way you play the game. There really isnt anything from the box vesion of this game that this mod does not change.

Taken from the web site:

'completely revamped combat system, accurate campaign map, over two-hundred brand new historically accurate totally re-skinned, and remodeled units, a significant graphical overhaul of the interface, new introduction video, and a new classical soundtrack conceived by a professional composer.'

I've also been banging SH3 since it came out and although I've started thinking about Doom3 RoE, Dangerous Waters and GTR, bought at the same time but gathering dust, I'm not ready to quit yet. I can't seem to let go without finding at least 1 passenger liner, it's becoming an obsession. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

I'm also due to upgrade my graphics card asap which will allow to load stuff like World Mod and make it a whole new game again.
