It would be nice to see a movie about this gentlemen. His log book actually recorded 40 kills but the confirmed ones were only 25... or 23.. depending on who you ask. Not that I am not looking forward to The Few with Tom Cruise as Billy Fiske because I most assuredly am.. I look forward to any movie that will feature warbirds and thier pilots..... as long as they arent fling under water. I bought Pearl Harbor for the Battle scenes alone... and a select few of those. There is something to be said for seeing those beatifully rendered CGI planes in action. That opening scene in Enemy at the Gates is a killer with the Stukas. But his story seems more interesting to me.

I've heard of this fellow before. He was an American who volunteered for duty in the RAF. Among other units, he commanded No. 145 Sqn. RAF, to which the Polish Fighting Team was attached to in North Africa. He was one hell of a man to everyone who knew him. I've read several journals and memoirs of pilots who served with him, and he was really a great guy.

I've always been struck by how much Wade (Texas' leading Spitfire ace) looked like Sean Connery, but Sean's getting a little long in the tooth for the role. Still, wouldn't it be a hoot to see if he could get the accent right?

cheers
