How obsessed are you?

I just upgraded my system just in time for Cliffs of Dover!

I think this will run it whadya reckon?!
I can't wait!

I can dig that. Watercooled Vregs, MOSFET and RAM is hot. Overkill just the way I like it!

Brutal MM case BTW. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Nice set up to be sure. Like the 3 monitor arrangement, does that give you a wider view or does it just make the trackir more realistic?

02-25-2011, 10:59 AM
I might actually be able to shoot something down with a rig like that....... well maybe not. LOL

..........though that could be a lie on my part.

wow, I hope your rig is well insured!

Your toenails need 'trimming'!! ....

Hope you don't get a shell in your radiator, or your PC will sieze in no time.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

For a second I thought I was looking at a dialysis machine for cryin out loud.

Can we see a sample video of that machine in action?

And howbout a shot of all three monitors turned-on if you please sir too. Wow.

Sweet!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Unfortunately, you can build the largest rig in the world with a 100 Gigs Ram. This game is so old and run by obsolete coding that the rigs have long ago passed the ability to further optimize this one.

However, you maybe on the low end of what's required to run BOB http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

02-26-2011, 05:56 AM
Nice rig.
I am looking into something similar and even saw dual CPUs available.
Anyway, I think I speak for many performance enthusiasts here when I ask for you to post some benchmarks.

Looks more like a strong hardware obsession! Nothing bad about that. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Myself was addicted to hardware, just say it's been a while.

Kind of wondering if your cooling system uses any Peltier wafers? They're neat, they're thin, feed em 12V and they can make one side 150F colder than the other.

I'm obsessed with IL-2... And I'm definitely building a new rig for Cliffs of Dover.

I'm going to wait a bit though, as I'd like to have the system specs for Battlefield 3 too, BF2 is the other game I just love. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif And I'm kinda interested in Bulldozer too.

02-26-2011, 03:48 PM
who doesnt love hardware, thats so cool

Quick 3min video of IL2 in Eyefinity

03-02-2011, 01:59 AM
I hate you, RS_Phat...

03-02-2011, 09:26 AM
Looks good, although looking at the screen shots and after seeing the video, the picture looks severely cropped, you're missing the top and bottom thirds of the picture. You can fix that with this utility...

I'm running Eyefinity and the cropped view was not practical to play the game with until I reset the field of view. For me 140 degrees is good, I put zoom on a joystick slider to seamlessly go from max. FOV to gunsite view.
It works very well, things look a little distorted around the edges when you use tir to look around, no biggie for me.

Here's a shot in a P51 cockpit, the FOV was set a little too far out at 150 degrees. 135 or 140 seems better in game.

03-02-2011, 05:05 PM
Yeah I know its cropped, thats because its one of the pre-recorded tracks that comes with the game with the default FOV.

I use Sans FOV changer too.
I didnt have any tracks recorded in eyefinity with San FOV running. The default FOV isnt really usable with eyefinity but I might record my own track and do another video if I get some time.

03-02-2011, 05:16 PM
thats what i call an upgrade.
You forgot to add "sharks with lazers".
then you know you are destined for world domination.

03-02-2011, 07:05 PM
But, LOL, will it get you laid? ROFL!

03-03-2011, 01:14 AM
When u turn that thing on does the power company have to turn on emergency nuclear power like on National Lampoons Christmas Vacation? Awsome rig

IL2 1946 Eyefinity Battle of Britain HUGE

Ok here is a new IL2 Movie.
This one filmed live with Sans IL2 FOV Changer set to 140 degrees FOV.

This is how NOT to fight in IL2 in a Battle of Britain scenario!
Mind you I was massively out numbered.

Mission created with UberDemons UberQuick IL2 Mission Generator based on the HUGE Battle of Britain setting but turned up to insane plane numbers..
20 x Mk.Vc4 1941 Spitfires
12 x Mk.1 1938 Hurricanes
28 x Bf-109 E-4 1940
18 x Bf-109 E-4/B 1940
28 x Ju-87 B-2 1941
28 x He111 H-2 1941

Nice to see. I am now getting this Topic in 3 screen Panovision.

Also nice to see RS has eventually plugged his cards into the PSU. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I can easily get my i7 965 to 4.2Ghz with only the multiplier and with no raising of the Vcore. And that's with standard air cooling and I rarely see any of the four cores get above 55C. I don't have SLI but seriously does any game, even COD benefit from SLI? I'll stick with just one video card and I'll run COD just fine thank you. I could build a system like that both financially and technically but it's pure overkill and geek to the max. No need for it at all for COD. And that's the only game I'll need it for. So why spend $10,000.00 when it's not necessary?

03-07-2011, 04:39 AM
Each to their own, but i see you miss the point..... for the fun of it...

Yes its over indulgent and ultimate geekness.

But its also satisfying to know you have pushed every last Mhz out of a system, and while your doing it having a quiet, fast reliable system.

You might well ask, Why climb everest? Why go to the moon!?!? Why build normal everyday passenger cars that can do 200Km/h???!?! all mankind strives for many unnecessary things for no real reason other than the sense of adventure, achievement, satisfaction and importantly ego.

Yes SLI and Crossfire certainly do improve performance massively for most games these days, especially in multi-monitor setups and with high AA and AF settings.

With performance scaling from 30% to near 100% per extra GPU dependant on the game and resolution used.

You can bet that IL2-COD will also benefit from the performance scaling of SLI/Crossfire systems. Normal everyday IL2 1946 already scales reasonably well with SLI systems even without being optimised for it. I should know, I've run it on SLI starting several years ago when SLI first came out.

Lets just say i enjoy building the modern day digital age equivalent of a 1950's hotrod... whats so strange about that? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

03-07-2011, 09:02 AM
You fellows couldnīt make this thread any wider? I mean I just have to scroll once over my 24" screen. Is that all?? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

03-14-2011, 02:57 AM
That is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen sir, a work of modern art. To each their own, that thing gives me goosebumps http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif
