View Full Version : Anybody want a 3.03 lit carrier to practice on?

If you've not already got a better one, you're welcome to try mine!

Mission file here (http://www.alliedwingedlegion.com/members/spinner/Seafire_Night.zip). Seafire L.Mk.III, HMS Illustrious. For the combined install (Normandy map) although I'm sure it can be altered for PF only maps with relative ease.

All visible deck lights in the 3D model have been lit in their appropriate colours, white for the deck boundaries and red for the catapult area. The only fictitious lights I've added, or ones that don't appear on the 3D model, are a couple of red/green navigation lights on Port and Starboard, centreline lights at each 40ft marker and a four-light white box to mark the start and finish of the arrestor cables.

Screenshots below have had their contrast flattened a bit, it's a lot darker in the mission (22:00hrs).

Cheers, Spinner

Thanks ...but can you tell me what config file you have to fool with to get this to occur????

Awesome thanks! Here's my flight, 1st try, with cockpit on. Cake!

awesome. will be trying this.

All you had to do was arrange the lights? right?

Great work on the lights, Spinner. Here's my track. (http://www.woodbuddies.com/PF/NiteCarrier.ntrk) It took two tries as I've never tried the Seafire on a carrier before http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Off to watch DD_NL's track now.

Glad you're having fun!

Destraex, jamesdietz,

I built this mission in the Full Mission Builder, nothing as easy as a switch in a config file I'm afraid. There's about 170 individually placed lights on the carrier, airfield and support ships, which can take a while.

If you open up this mission file with the Full Mission Builder you can see for yourself. It's also very easy for you to change aircraft if you want something other than a Seafire to practice in.

From within the FMB, simply zoom into and click on any of the red waypoints around the carrier (zoom bar on the left of the screen, scroll bars on the right and bottom), select View Object from one of the drop down menus at the top and change the aircraft. Save, and Play.

nutcase (I think) has posted an excellent introduction to the Full Mission Builder which I'd recommend if you're new to it and would like to create something yourself. There are also some good "how to" stickies in the Mission Builders forum on this site.

Alas, the lights are static objects and thus can't be placed on a moving carrier.

Cheers, Spinner

You know, if the aircraft can have switchable nav, cockpit and landing lights, how hard would it be for the Oleg peeps to add lights to the carriers (as part of the carriers) with a simple key-bind to on/off. (?)

Shameless bump for anyone who might be interested and missed this first time around.

Look in your FMB(Full Mission Builder)/File/Load Map, you should definitely have these.......

Thanks Stuka! Any way to use these other maps in the QMB, or are they only in the FMB?
