Well I thought it would be impossible to fly but wasn't it real? It said it was at the '04 Make a Wish Foundation Airshow. Or was it just a hyped video illusion?

So... how is it propelled? It was kinda grainy, the camera was bouncy and didn't show any close up shots. I saw a plume of smoke from the rear on a couple of occasions, but didn't see any wings or propellor. What's going on here?

LOL

But its WAY undermodelled in some areas. With its bottom mounted propeller and mighty 5CC engine the "antigravity" Supermarine Lawnmower Mk1 shouldn't have any tourque problems and its nose shouldn't shake nearly that much when it fires its pittifully weak MG151/20.

Its looping ability is so not like it REALLY was. Here is an obscure German test pilots view of it: "blah, blah, blah bratwurst, blah sixteen loops while increasing speed, blah, blah, turned inside an spitfire, blah, blah
flew hom missing a handle."

Seriously. And when i get home i'll post a track to back all that up.

Powered by a little .40 2 stroke motor it looked... real cute. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Someones probably put a big aero model engine and a bunch of control surfaces underneath a plastic model of a lawnmower. Wouldn't fly too well but with enough speed and power to weight almost anything will get airborne.

Would be a bit of a cast iron beach to control though.

that has to be the new secret marine weapon, attacking enemy from above....bit macabre though...

Cool video huh? I'm surprised someone in the thread questioned the thing, the RC design has been out for years and it's always a crowd pleaser. I loved the music too- "Cotton Eyed Joe." Only a crazy redneck like myself would have imbibed enough Beer to come up with such a wild idea as a flying lawn mower. I suspect it was a drunken kind of a bet between two engineers who both said "I can make a lawn mower fly!" What a hoot. You notice too it was for the make a wish foundation. Sweet. All the best, LongHorn
