I've added my own custom music to the game, but the tracks don't play randomly, they played in some sort of prespecified order... is there any way to get them to be randomly selected? Thanks.

no - sorry

Dang, any idea how it decides what order to play the tracks in?

I think alphabetically. Add letters in front of your song titles to change the order of play.

iirc it starts alpha-numerically but it remembers the last setting so if you have songs 1.wav-3.wav-5.wav then later add 2.wav, 4.wav the sequence will be 1.wav-3.wav-5.wav-2.wav-4.wav
but that was a few editions ago and may have been fixed - if you have any skill at scripting you may be able to create a script that adds a random number on the music files each time you start the game.

Heh, well that sucks cause page 10 of the manual for PF says "The files for playback are chosen at random"

Liars.

they MAY have fixed that because this was a problem in FB and AEP but if they have i haven't experianced it it's ALWAYS the same - maybe it plays RANDOM in the version that hase a flyable Betty - opps vaporware!

How come when I copy my .wav files into what I think is the right folder, I still can't hear my songs while flying?

Geez SCUBAdevines I have posted you a link in your thread -- just *click* on it and you will be fine. I think. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif . I will post it here again in spite the fact that I don't understand what you do not understand http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

thanks for the info. Ok, so now why does it play the same song over and over?

Put several songs in the appropriate folder and you have solved the problem.

Songs are played one after another. If you do not like 'em at any given moment you can turn them off, or you can 'volume down' 'em http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif, so you won't probably hear them playing because of engine roar.http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

You could use jam box or stereo. Jam stereo, let computer fly sim.

Someone who gets it to work, post it. Been screwing around with this for a while. I tried the changing the first character in the filename to a...,b...,c... etc...but it didn't work.

This 'random' thing did not work well at FB/PF. For example, you canput new skin under appropriate folder, and that skin will always be *last* on the list of available skins.('customize aircraft' under QMB for example).

Apparently that goes for songs too. It does not matter alpahabetical order -- what song you put last in folder that one will play on the very bottom of the song list.

Okay, maybe its not automatic alpha-numeric.

But, if you rearrange the order by going to VIEW then ARRANGE ICONS BY then clicking NAME (on your pull down menu bar) after pasting in songs or after renaming them with prefixes, it should work. That rearranges the order alpha-numerically in a given folder.

It works for me.

I haven't achieved that either, han.
If I left the songs in directory, I can renaming them sorting them, nothing works for me. Green Onions is still my first song to play http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

No really I did not experiment that much, but for sure it is painfull to constantly rename and paste the .wav'es(.mp3's) into proper directoy..

JRJacobs mentioned scripting. Well, I ain't so experienced at that, but if someone can give me(us) a clue what that could be maybe we can move from point zero..

I can't get them to play at all. Every once in a while, at the start of a mission, I'll hear maybe 5 seconds of a certain song. Just THAT song... and then it will shut off. Other songs just sound screwed up...
