Going by the last week I played FB, which was a couple weeks ago.

I would have been alive for about 4 days and been an ace about 8 times over. Then I earned a break by order of Hermann Goering and will return to active duty shortly in which I will see if I can continue my 4 day streak of not being shot down. Place your bets here...

actually, nobody from the 609 pilots and airmen that attacked on 7th of December 1941, because of the sniper AAA.

Answering your question, nobody again. everyone has been shot down at least once, without being able ot parachute.

"An attack against a unit of Flying Fortresses was something like controlled suicide...Sometimes 50, Sometimes 80 machine guns were firing at you... You attempted to close you eyes & continue to fire, Frightened to death, Frightened to death."

I think the debutant would have to be really coward to survive, avoiding fights over ennemy territory. Be very careful, always ready to get away. Once experienced, the pilot would have to be very careful and doesn't take chances. It's not the way i play, so i got killed very often since i started playing. People don't play that way, they are more agressive, only a lucky coward would still be alive in FB

I would not even be flying with my eye-sight...

But who here would fly the way they fly in FB if it was real???

If your idea of a fun flight sim is always surviving and running from any possible fight, you should be in ww2 online. The whole game is based on planes being able to run away and the concept that survival above all else is a "good" thing.

Once i read a post about RBJ, saying he was an ace, then a couple of days later he said he wasn't playing with cockpit ON, what kind of an ace is that? he probably plays with invincibility too. Phony

Well some squads take it pretty seriously. In our "Combat Mission" COOP's we fly to our best ability and getting killed is a big deal to us. We keep our stats in a database and do our best not to take chances we wouldn't take in real life. For me this adds to the immersion and is what Squad flying is all about.

DF Servers give an unnatural concentrated amount of combat in a small area with multiple chaotic engagements. I get killed a fair bit in DF servers, but with a coordinated team in a COOP - way less /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I was checking out a restored flyable Sea Fury the other day.

I would have no qualms taking one up for a spin if it was modelled in FB .. and i have a reasonable number of real time GA hours under my belt.

But I took one look at this huge monster and thought "there is NOWAY i could fly that without coming unstuck in a very painful fashion" http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Posted under a number of names, over the last few years, partly because I find it amusing to change frequently and partly because I forget passwords. Also changed once because I thought I'd been banned and later found out otherwise.

I have also been CALLED many other names. Many, many other names. As will not surprise you.

Look at the VOW mission stats, sorted by KIAs:

http://www.vow-hq.com/index.php?page=stats&action/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif verviewtbl&sort=pilot_killed&order=ASC

1.VB Erick has 5 kills in 11 missions and hasn't been killed once. 3./JG1 Boose has 11 kills in 14 missions and hasn't been killed either. Ala 11 Gorgos has 6 kills in 17 missions. Blue Quax - 12 kills in 18 missions. I/JG78 Max - 20 kills in 21 missions.

Totenkand Heide has an amazing 31 kills in 43 missions, without a single KIA.

There are others who have racked up impressive scores on VOW without getting killed.

They get my vote.

Me, I'd be dead too many times to count.
