Just a though, in oder to immers the players in BOB and to give the game a real at war experiance, i feel *** though when you have landed or you are out of your plane, insted of a conventional menu listning setup options and what not, in the new SOW series if would be good to have the player in first person view of the pilot on the ground.

In a refuel rearm and repair situation pilots could go to the briefing room, look at stats and even chat(eg in halo 2 online playes can speak and hear teh people who are in their proximity). Also, for mission briefings or planning mission.

Pilots could walk around teh base, arm AA guns, assist ther repairs etc. GIve me your thoughts and input.

One more idea would e teh use of an ingame radia when flying,it would save time in ahving to get the ip adress for evry server insted just look it p in the game, and have squads of flughts set it up on different frequencies.

I would really like to see this in the game, it would make it so more realistic, along wit his fab graphics and FM http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You are aware that Maddox Games is a small team for the task they've set for themselves? All that "First-Person-Stuff" is in my eyes over the top and not even remotely realistic when looking at the team size, the general market for flight sims and the planned release in late 2007.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I like the idea

Don't think we'll ever see it though. A good compromise is a menu system like Silent Hunter III's where the menu looks like an office. In our case it could look like a hanger. That way the 3D walking around stuff wouldn't have to be implemented, just 2D photoshop stuff.

Another idea is to give players a top-down view of their selected airbase from the Full Mission Builder (zoomed in enough to where it switches to a 3D view). All available planes could be lined up and the player could select the plane he wants, or the AA he wants, or he could just sit there and be the ATC.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Some of my best kills have started with the thought, "There's no way in #@&* this is going to hit him."

That FMB-view idea is really nice - I like it!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I vote yes for a first or third person view in SoW. My hope is that this new sim is to be much more immersive than the il2 series. I'd like to enter a mature and dramatic story about a dramatic period. But this may indeed be a huge work for a little (?) team, so the fact is that a fps game mixed in the flight sim would offer enormous potentialities to the full missions builders. Maybe I'm asking too much, but Oleg himself presents his new work as unmatchable, so..
Technically, I don't really understand why it would be so difficult. You already play a fps game in your aircraft. You already can land anywhere. Just need a body to walk around.
In terms of business (hello Ubi !), this might just increase considerably the audience for the game.
But let's wait and see ... and do lobbying. Please excuse my bad english.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Oleg, you should'nt forget girls. I've read somewhere they did exist at that time too.

Personnally, I wouldn't care for it. It's not an FPS game and I'd find it gimmicky and a waste of resources. As a business idea I doubt it would sell much. I've played other "combo" games like the BF series and/or WW2OL and you end up with a game that isn't a very good FPS or a very good flight sim. A different menu system might be nice but the whole walking around thing holds zero appeal to me.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Manning AA would be cool though, but not if it created more lag than if the gunner was flying instead.

AA will be mannable, as Oleg mentioned before.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I think there is something in this post. It will probably happen one day but lets get the flying and combat bits perfect first eh?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I'm not much interested in Manning an AAA gun. I would however like to maintain my first person perspective when I bail out. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Limited mobility outside of a cockpit could be a great thing though.

The notion of loading up the game and suddenly finding myself standing in the ready room is a novel one. Walking over to the chalk-board and reading the names (noticing a few have been rubbed out since you last campaign mission). Getting weather updates. Reading your mission orders, "Incomming bombers. Sixty plus. Squadron scramble!" You put down the orders. On cue, the scramble klaxxon sounds and you move for the door. Hit Enter button, and mission loads....<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

even if its is a basic, human model so we can just walk or run around the base or when you bail out.

the featur could be used while waiting to rearm and fly, or if your waiting and there is a bombing raid you can run to cover move planes on the ground an run to man AA guns. It would really give the game a bigger imersion that il2 lacks.

but i still like il2, no probs with the new pacth http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I want a flight sim not stupid point-and-click on the item on a picture-of-a-room-interface. The best user interface I've seen was in Flanker 1.x series - standard windows application, no crashes, no performance hit, standard UI controls, simple and intuitive. No stupid animations and "wonder if this position of the toggle switch means it's on or off?". Leave stupid animated GUIs to FPS games.

Yes, I do have years of experience designing and programming GUI applications in case someone is wondering.
