The P-38 is one of the most interesting and pivotal aircraft of WW2. It's range and performance gave the USAAF the ability to threaten the enemy at long distance, as exemplified by the mission to shoot down Admiral Yamamoto. The P-38 gave the Allies an aircraft capable of matching or exceeding the performance of fast Fw190s and Bf109s of the Luftwaffe.

Unfortunately, as important as the P-38 was, there is a lot of confusion regarding the performance of the aircraft that still remains today. The Lockheed Syndicate is a new forum dedicated to sorting through the available information on the P-38, and hopefully improving understanding of this controversial aircraft.

The forum is a no-spam, no-flame zone that will be very tightly moderated. Anyone interested in the discussing the P-38 in a mature manner is welcome.

We've had the Fw190 Consortium over at CWOS for a while. It's the most boring place on earth for anyone not interested in the FockeWulf, but, if you are interested, it's a great hangout. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif The SPAM FREE element really helps discussions on the aircraft.

We are hoping the same controlled atmoshpere will help sort some of the of the P-38 confusion. Like the Fw190, there is a lot of incorrect and incomplete information in print and in cyberspace about the Lighning.

However, I have to ask, is the purpose of the proposed forum to merely discuss P-38 issues or is the end expectation to have these matters incorporated into Oleg's game code? If the latter is the case, then I think you're barking up the wrong tree as it's clear that he'll program as he sees fit regardless of what's presented. If it's the former and the goal is to simply learn more about the P-38, then I think that the end goal is much more achievable.

the goal is to discuss and debate the 38 and its facts and myths in a civil manner, without the help of some of the clowns and spammers that troll this forum. it will be tightly moderated. it is doubtfull that even if we proved something was a miss about the FM that oleg would change it anyways, especially at this late date in the game development. but anyways this is NOT our intent. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

No Pipper, we are not out to change the sim, but, we will certainly discuss PF tactics for the P-38. As with the Fw190, the P-38 data is all over the place and hard to find. We are just gathering as much info as we can and trying to sort it out. The forum is geared more towards the plane enthusiast and less at the simer, although sim discussions are welcome. Anyway, just check it out, don't cost nuthin'.
