View Full Version : Game settings revert to default after exiting PF

Yesterday I was running some fraps tests on Black Death when I noticed that all my in game settings were going back to default when I exited PF. Also the settings in Set-Up Menu were doing the same thing.

I would reset everything, fly for a while under the reset settings, exit the game and then check the settings. They would be back at default. This applied to all video, sound, joystick etc. Very annoying.

Any ideas? Is it a bug or have I bugg**** something up.

Check the properties on your conf.ini file, it may be set to "Read Only".

To check properties, right click on the file and select "Properties". If the read only box is checked, uncheck it and click OK.

Thanks for your help on this Tully. I have done as you said but the Read Only box and the Hidden box were both unchecked.

Confusing isn't it. I think I will reload the game and see if that cures it. If it does, I will repost back here.

Hmmmm! When I installed PF, I copied Version 2.04 first then installed PF on top of it.

When I run 2.04 now, the settings also default in that version, so it must have been there prior to the PF install.

Guess I will have to go back and see where the problem first appeared before I can fix it. Fortunately I have kept copies of all the patches etc.

Looks like the last clean version I have is V.1.22. Can anyone provide me with a list of the steps (patches) I need from 1.22 to PF. I have patch 2.01 and 2.04 plus Ace Expansion Pack and PF?

Many thanks.

Install FB...reboot Install AEP.....reboot...Install PF....reboot

I've seen no issues on it that way. It's best not to patch the games as all needed patches are included with PF 3.0

you can also try resetting your conf.ini by setting all in game options to default. Go into quick mission builder and play about 5 minutes then reboot. Start game and set to taste.

save directory /users/ and file conf.ini (joystick settings etc. - you can cut-paste)

FB (1.0) AEP (2.0) PF (3.0) Reboot
RUN Setup
EDIT conf.ini

Thanks all. I have done a complete re-install as per Hunta and it is now working the way it should. I suspect it had to do with the various patches.

Maybe I will get some consistency back in the game now.

I have spent all morning on this but it is better than being outside. This is the opening day of deer season and the "hills are alive with the sound of bullets". A large buck just ran past our house spooked by the hunters I guess. Last year I was working inside a shed when a bullet came in through the roof, deflected off a nail and came to rest 2 feet in front of me. I still have the bullet as a souvenir. Ah, the joys of living in the woods!

Thanks again for your help.

Put up a neon sign on your roof that says "Careful where you aim, I shoot back" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Perhaps a good time to market that international orange kevlar unitard for the prepared backwoodsman, Blair. S!

Cheers

LOL.

Best I get to see in my yard is rabbits, pheasants and the odd Muntjac deer (http://www.deer-uk.com/muntjac1.htm).

Small but they make hell of a bang when they hit the car when you're doing 80 mph though http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/1072.gif

lol yeah any large mammal makes a bang http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I have turkeys, red foxes, bears and deer every day in my yard. It backs up to a nature preserve and there is a small stream by a rock shelf that attracts them for drinking water...across the street is a small lake...so we get any animal available lol

Sounds idyllic http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I'm jealous. Thought I lived in the 'country' http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Then you and Blairgowrie remind me that I don't, and that I also live in the wrong country too. One day.....

Day 2 of hunting season. Just wanted to let everyone know I am still here, alive and well.

And B16. Why would one ever drive at 80mph? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Pleased to hear it Blairgowrie http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

80? Hmm, returning from the Chiropractor early evening with my mother-in-law who was on holiday with us from DC. Taking up precious FB time http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

As I drive a Landrover it didn't damage me too much.

Waiting in the cold for over two hours in the dark for a Vet to put the poor creature out of it's misery taught me patience again.
Especially as it finally got up off the road and ran off into the woods when he turned up with his S&W, never to be seen again. Tough little blighters.

I drive more considerately now.

That is amazing that it was able to get up after being hit by a Landrover at 80 mph. As you say, they are tough little beggars.
