View Full Version : Is there a mod to make remembering controls easier?

Hi,

I just picked up AC2 and am struggling to remember what the icons represent when the game tells me to do something like in the beginning when it tells me to kick my feet or move my head, arms etc.

The game gives me an icon but being that I'm on the PC, it would seem to me to do a whole lot better to just make the icon show the letter on my keyboard that I need to press for it instead of using those foot or hand or whatever icons.

Is there a mod that will help me out with this, maybe one that will change those icons to letters?

Not that I know of, but it's pretty easy to remember.

Head = E
Armed hand = LMB
Empty hand = LShift
Legs = Space
High profile = RMB
Lock on = F
Map = TAB

IMO, these are all you'll ever have to remember. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

EDIT: http://assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/Controls and http://www.goldfries.com/image...sassinscreed2_06.jpg (http://www.goldfries.com/images/gamereviews/2010/assassinscreed2/assassinscreed2_06.jpg) might help. Alternatively, you can look at the options menu. (Sorry if I'm just stating the obvious.)

You could try remembering it as if the top of the keyboard was the head and then you work down.

Say if you stood the keyboard upright with the spacebar at the bottom, then E is obviously the head,shift and the left mouse button are your left(empty hand) and right(weapon hand) hands, then spacebar is your legs

Also, they're colour coded. That means you can connect the colour to the action in your head, if that's easier.

Once you figure out a way that suits you, you'll learn fairly quickly. Also, keep an eye out for the controls HUD appearing subtly in the top right hand corner during cut scenes and cinematics. It acts as a slight prompt to tell you an action is incoming.

If you miss them you have to play through the whole game to see them again, so pay attention. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I think this was only in AC1. Pretty sure AC2 just had black and white symbols.

First time around, I missed the point where Ezio demonstrates the hidden blade to Paola. But it's not much of a problem, I guess.

Thanks, I'll give it a try, I've printed out what you wrote up there in really large font so that I can easily see it while playing the game. I suppose it will come more natural after playing for a few hours maybe.

a post-it note on your screen is all the mod you could ever need if you can't remember the controls.

Weapon wheel = Q
Use medicine = 1
Hidden blades = 2
Sword = 3
Fists = 4

(The last four can be also selected from the weapon wheel)

You can set the controls to whatever you want them to be.

Those that have been posted are the Default. I modified mine to make it easier for me. Mine are as follows:

Head/Eagle Vision = E
High Profile = Press and hold Spacebar.
Feet (walk, run, jump, climb) = F
Move left = A
Move right = D
Turn 180 and walk the other way = S
Walk forward = W
Attack = Left Mouse Button
Empty hand = Right mouse button.
Map = Tab key
Weapon Wheel = Q
Target lock = T
Medicine = M

For ACB i'll most likely use the same setup, with the addition of the BAM tied to the B key. :P
