View Full Version : Sound bug

I recall that at least until 4.04 included, (I have not 4.05 yet) there is a bug in sound.

If you are in game (I mean in cockpit), press Esc, go to sound options and selec Quadraphonic or Surround, when exit sound menu and returns to game the sound changes to a more loud and with more bass one, but if you then change to a external view the sounds return to the normal setting and therefore sounds more acute, without 'body'. The only way that it do not change is stay all mission inside cockpit and no activate ANY external view.

Is it a known bug? Someone has a workaround? Maybe conf.ini needs some value?

Is it possible that only one or two persons have noticed it? Nobody have ever been interested in testing (or even playing with http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif) the options of sound menu?

I know sound in FB are not the better point, but...still is better than nothing http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

This effect is in IL2 since the original release.

Would not know why I would do this.

My setting is Surround as this reflects my speaker setup correctly.

Sound is great, so, why should I fool around with it's settings?

there used to be a problem with audigy cards where sound was poor until you entered sound setup up and exited again (without making any changes)

IIRC from the original IL2-times, the sound engine reinitializes when exiting the sound-menu. If hardware-acc is enabled, then the sound engine is not shut down correctly, leading to overlapping sounds, giving it more depth and volume.
