Hey guys, I been using MSFFB2 since the original has been out. Not until recently have I had any probs with it. I have a spare stick and have tested with both of them with same results.

Somehow, this patch has screwed with the effects of the FFB centering function. I did a fresh install of the game and got the same results.

It seems that it only happens online. I don't get the problem offline. When this happens, the stick has no control preassure, it is just limp and falls from side to side. It is sporatic also. One game it may work, the next room I go in, it may not.

I know some people have been complaining of this recently. I want to get a base of how many people are effected by this so we can submit an official bug report.

Let me know if you have experienced this with any FFB stick.

Thanks.

Same here.

Uninstall your Sidewinder control panel, reboot and install the joystick via windows control panel.

Forces ok now.

Yeah, But then no profiles. Can't deal with that! I currently use a profile that lets me get 21 functions on my stick. The software works fine. Its something with the game that screwed it up.

How do you get 21 functions with a MSFFB2?

I'm using the same stick Coastie and I have not had this problem. However I have noticed if I drop to the desktop within a game and then return I will get the effect you describe. Once that particular mission is completed and I start another the problem goes away.

Yeah,I'm like Chief here. FF works fine for me online, but if I go to desktop during a mission it quits working. The next mission,it's fine. Not really a big issue for me....

You shouldn't be using the Sidewinder software if you are using Windows XP.

I have told people about this but they just don't listen.

Use a CH Pro Throttle with the MS FFB2 and all will be well. No profiles needed.

I have been using this stick with XP for 3 years and 3 different games, with the profile software and have never had a problem. The software is fine. It never happened before the patch 1.11 except when you go to desktop like mentioned above, No biggie with that.

This is a sporadic problem with the new patch. It only happens sometimes.

To the person asking about 21 functions for this stick. Go to the downloads section at my site and download my profile. Link in sig.

Hi,

same problem here:

XP + MSSW-FFB2 + FB1.11 + online = limpstick (sometimes)

very disconcerting when flying A4 in high-G deflection shot, or landing, or evading 9T, or ...

I don't use any special profiles. Can I just use XP drivers to run stick just as well?

Until now. And hasn't Windows XP been out 2 years not 3 years? Anyway, your blind eye to compatability has finnally caught up. I bought a new red build SWFFB2 and tied the sidewinder software thinking it might work. Instead it reversed my stick forces and put me on top of the pyramid. I uninstalled the buggy software (and reinstalled the stick and all worked well) after talking to a MS rep who told me that windows XP wasn't compatable with the sidewinder software. Did you hear that, windows XP is not compatable with the sidewinder software. You might get it to work if you are lucky but eventually something like this will happen. Look at the sidewinder software download site and you will notice that it does not include windows XP in it's list of compatable operating systems.

You don't need it anyway. For the forces in the game, use fedit to mod the FFB files of IL2/FB (each one in a special way to your liking...and even fix some of the FFB bugs this way...the right way and not by just deleting them) and for buttons, you need a seperate throttle to be an ace in the FB revision to IL2 anyway so go buy a CH Pro Throttle USB and use it with the MS FFB2 and you'll have all the button's you could ever want to remember.

Coastie,

How do you enable a "shift" feature? I can't read what's assigned to button #8 from your screenshots.

And what is "fedit"?

I'm surprised I did'nt know about your site.
Thanks!

Lance,

Just assign button 8 to your keyboard shift key. Then you just hold it down the same time as the others coupled with shift.

RBJ, Your preaching about your unfortunate ability to get the software working is getting tiresome. I know it is not supported and I know some dont get it to work correctly. It works fine with me however.

I also have a red addition of the stick. That is the only difference in the 2, they changed the color of the light lense.

I am trying to narrow this down to a combination of things, such as Ventrilo, patch 1.11 or even a recent windows update.
