It seems a good idea but I think it's going to be impossible because the runways and airfields are flat. This means you would have to find a large enough area on the map for them to sit flush to the ground otherwise it would look terrible.

What I would like to see is the ability to skin vehicles. I don't know how or where the skins are stored but I think it would definately add something to the game.

I looked through the folders. In the DGen German folder, the guy in picture number 23 looks like Zaphod Beeblebrox from the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, only he just has the one head. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif ... or maybe he was in Spandau Ballet?

Yes, he does carry some resemblance to the guy from the TV series doesn't he? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

There are plenty of places where you could make a runway. The ones that are already there are little too long anyway and something 2/3 of the lenght is enough to land and take off.

What I don't like is that all bases look the same and some creativity is neccessery /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif which is where I'd like to jump in /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Ultimatly a placable runway would be a complex item, if it was to function like other runways ultimatly giving us the ablity to make our own maps virtually.

I don't see that happening anytime soon, but i'd like to.

I found flat areas big enough for a small airfield even on top of the mountains of the Kuban map. I use them in my new I-16 campaign (http://home.arcor.de/rayluck/sturmovik/kampagne.html) (has only German language briefings so far). The campaign is available for IL-2 Sturmovik 1.2 only, as in FB the terrain outside of normal runways is too rough for the I-16 to take off.

So a runway object for FB would be very cool.
