Welcome and good luck, Mac.

There are some very helpful people around here, and other types too http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif . All for fun though http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/partyhat.gif

Try my "Straight From the Farm" campaign mentioned in the Nugget's Guide. I will help you with takeoffs and landings on runways and then on carriers. It will also help you map some basic commands like chocks.

The missions are VERY short; just a few minutes each. You will be done in no time and will have learned a lot about basic flying in this sim.

Welcome Mac ! Well first off you are getting good advice to start by reading Bearcat's Nugget's Guide. Joint Ops is also another great (and free) resource, although it will take about 2 1/2 weeks of your time once you finally start Basic Flight School. Zeus-cat is pretty much the Master of the FMB and has some of the best campaigns available.

You might also want to check out these two links:

This is a guide which will help give you a heads up for Hyperlobby as well as giving you some tips.

http://files.filefront.com/New...91841;/fileinfo.html (http://files.filefront.com/Newbies+Joystick+22pdf/;12691841;/fileinfo.html)

...and this is a guide which may help you to set up your joystick in a more ergonomical manner and is written specifically for IL2 users.

Cheers and good luck with this crack addiction we call IL2 !

Unfortunatley, 11yr old into her Nintendo DS stuff
4 yr old into anything he can get himself into at that age.
Besides they would probably show me up....

The only thing i would add is if you are going to fly online use hyberlobby not UBI and join a good squadron in your own time zone. Join earlier rather than later. They will train you and help you avoid a lot of the early pitfalls.
