I finally tried the early G6 online last night. It's still a dog... but not nearly as piggish as it used to be. You can at least fight in it a little. It's fine for bounces, and it climbs much better...but if your enemy knows you're there and the fight gets drawn out...you're in deep caca in a 109G6. It's just not responsive enough to survive against its contemporaries, all of whom can pick their noses up, roll, turn and change direction half again as fast as you.

Considering it was quoted by American P51 flyers that the 109 and 190 could dive away from them I find the current 109 a lawn dart. As soon as you're over 550kph the elevators become useless. Most of my problems in dog fighting are about this, heavy and gradually but not impossible to get out of a dive.

Advantage at the moment destinctly P51. Damage Model on FW190 needs to be upgraded to the rest of the planes out there. At moment it's pathetic. Flies nicely though as long as you are stick sensitive (-:

I still find it hard to see out of the rotten egg colored glass, but it is a joy to fly again. Perhaps the elevator gets heavy a little too fast, but if you trim nose up before you start a fight, it's a little easier to pull out of the dives.

P.S. I dont even like eggs, so why did my ground crew put them all over the inside of my cockpit glass? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Not many people TnB with the 109. I use the G6/AS or the G14. I can usually turn inside a La-7, or I can just throw her around until I can get a shot. Same thing with a Yak. Against the Mustang I just don't follow it up. Let him come to me.

Anyway, the 109 is greatly improved. As long as I don't have to fly that 1.11 FM anymore, I'll be happy as a clam!
