Since I have been the Official Lancaster Whiner at this site for several years, I thought another whine was long overdue:

Where's my #*&!#*! Lancaster?

Why are those talented, wonderful, and generous gentlemen who patch this game over and over offering odd little tidbits from here, obscure planes from there, but in this grandest of grand WWII flightsims... no Lancaster?

I can send them a picture of one if they don't know what a Lancaster looks like. Perhaps they could hit Google and someone might have a cartoon drawing of one somewhere. Are they even aware there were Lancasters flying in World War II?

Seriouly, guys, you're freaking me out. I want a Lancaster!!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif

Why don't you join TD and start working on it yourself?

Lancaster? Pah! You have no sense of priorities. TD must obviously do the Handley Page Gugnunc first:

I feel I must back up Beirut here. In terms of importance surely the lancaster ranks right up there way ahead of the whirlwind ( much as I would LOVE to fly that in this sim) or various Italian planes we have been brought by the lovely TD. It is the one serious omission in terms of historical importance.

Because I wasn't invited to the party, so all I can do is roll an apple across the table. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

But I get stopped dead in my tracks at Garstang and Catterall every single time before I can make it there.

Have pity, for I am denied my four Merlins.

Lancaster would be fantastic, but I cant help but think that the Whirlwind would be a better addition to online battles. Would add a whole new dimension to 1940-41 battles over the channel.

Just my personal opinion of course.

Hmm...Lancs in UP3? And UP3 is coming out soon? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

There's a Halifax in UP 2.1, it's freaking annoying to shoot down, it's made of bricks or something. Hopefully the Lanc isn't so bad but we'll see.

I looked at the aircraft list for UP3 and I could not find the Lanc mentioned anywhere.

I heard on a BBC WWII show that more Wellington's were produced than any other British bomber and guess what else IL-2 don't have?

Nooooooooo Wellllllllllllies! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif

I'm sorry, but If I cannot have the Airspeed Fleet Shadower post haste, I'm tossing my toys out of the pram.

UP 3 is supposed to be coming out next weekend...should be fun. Other than the Lancaster it looks like there are quite a few new planes though most of them are alterations of existing planes as usual, like more Spits and 109's...but there will be Skyraiders and Ki-44's which should be cool, I sure hope they get their own pits. Go to the UP site and they have a readme with the details.

I'd be almost as happy to see Halifaxes and Horsas... as AI.

I can just imagine the conversation over the drawing board:

"Do you think it's ugly enough yet?"
"Hum, I dunno... Let's bung on a couple more engines, and another tailfin."
"How about we fit it with skis?..."

Actually, this is a cunning form of psychological camouflage. Anyone seeing it will refuse to believe anything as ridiculous as that could fly, and thus assume it is a figment of their imagination, probably caused by a hangover, or by oxygen deprivation...

What an ugly plane,

but at least the spare bodies came in useful later on....
