BRIEFLY
I've always only been a fan of simulators when it comes to computer games. I've been hooked on Il2 Sturmovik for 2 years, apart from multiplay, it is going back on the shelf for a bit.
This game is fantastic, so unbelievably atmospheric. Silent Hunter 3 is the best game I've played yet. Been boring my friends to death telling them about my convoy hunting escapades tonight. Hmm.

There is one thing I don`t understand. Somewhere here on this forum someone said the sales are not good. Well in my country SH 3 is constantly sold out http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

I've said it before & I'll say it again.

THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVER CONCEIVED, RESEARCHED AND RELEASED.

Going back 12 years or so to gaming on a 286 platform I have never played a better sim or GAME.

Yeah it's got a few MINOR bugs and also a few MINOR shortcomings but I think it 100% hits the mark they were aiming for...an entertaining and almost REAL feeling simulation of WWII U-boat life & warfare...and we got BEAUTIFUL graphics to boot!! That's a complete success in my estimation.

These kids on here who nitpick on the smallest of details left out or not quite up to their standards have way too much time on their hands and need to do a lot of growing up.

This is an OUTSTANDING GAME stacking it up against virtually every other WWII game I've ever played...

I think you guys are lucky in a way because you were not on board from the start.

A lot of people who were saw what was promised and all ideas of what was in the game, but none of them materialised. Yes its great fun and looks nice, but is massively flawed. You dont notice it at first and some people never notice the flaws because they dont look that deep, and nothing wrong with that.

I think to call people kids because they dont like it and say grow up is a little immature in itself lol but whatever, you will probably find the people who complain the most are pretty old, like 30+ as they know what they want and understand the era ect...

Also i think some people who dont know much about the history and workings also have more fun in a way because they are ignorant of reality so it all looks right, those who learnt about the boats and are massively (maybe nerdily) into them notice all the things which are wrong, and there are lots for them lol!

I personally dont expect perfection, i dont care if a valve is wrong or if the periscope is 4cm too short, and dont expect it to be real, but i do expect things which are talked about 2 weeks prior to release in a live chat to be there, and if not i expect answers as to why http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif or as queeny used to say in blackadder "Off with his head!"

It is a very good game, but im not suprised about the ascendancy of Consoles after the way PC customers are treat. No one can deny this game is half finished and is still now, months later, a work in progress. Though work has finished... What could it have been if more time had been given? And where does the blame lie? The developers for trying to do too much? The publishers for rushing games out for cash, or us for demanding a dynamic campaign for which they obviously didnt have time to do, since they hadnt even finished the game fully.

I think its a bit of everyone.

Thats a whole different argument though. Enjoy the game it WILL give you hours of fun i have no doubt!

I take your point Dominicrigg. I'm not particularly young, and I do have a decentish underlying knowledge of WW2 history.
The Il2 forums are about 50% full of accuracy complaints, sure it's another Ubisoft game but it was developed by a different team. Simulators will always be flawed it seems. I'm just enjoying the atmosphere of SH111 at the moment.

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif cool, I love it still for all its bad points!
I think thats the point, if i thought it was **** i would not have made a website and be so passionate about it lol, and the fact it kept me playing long enough to notice the bad points is testament to how long i played it! (it must be up there with the most hours of any game i have had.)

Im just hoping and praying for a free patch or even an add on. If that fixed some of the main broken things (compressed air!!) and added a little i would be willing to pay 20 or so.

As for sturmovik that in my opinion is fine. I have no complaints about that game as in my eyes its wonderfull, only the campaign/single player aspect needs work in my opinion. That is one forum i stay away from, so many people who seem to have flown me109s and "know" how wrong the game is. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif
