are out of threat from that virus , From my read on this forum, seems like only Win ME is invulnerable, but her:

seem to say that also Win 98 and 95 are secure.
I'm using 98SE, and I wnted a few weeks ago to take the XP pro, but now I'm happy I didn't do it....

Win 95, 98, 98SE and ME all use the same basic code core (which is why all are usually collctively referred to as Win9x).

Of all of them, 98 and 98SE in particular are considered to be the best, and ME the worst.

As for XP, it blows away all of them, and as long as you keep you OS patched and updated, there's nothing to worry about. The fix for this latest worm was available weeks ago, well before it became a problem.

Yes, I bypassed win ME and 2000 and was waiting to get the cash for the whole XP pro business package, Win 98se w/ all updates and tweaked is still a great OS.

Makes you wonder huh... 98SE is so old so it can' even get a decent virus!!! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif and ME is so bad that iven viruses are scared of him /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
That why I love it..../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
I still don't undersatnd.. How was it possible after the great(at his time) Win95, and (still now) EXCELENT win 98, for MS to regress that much....

Because the hackers are moving their efforts to winXP. that's why win98 is left alone, and it feels "secure". it's just as vulnurable as any other piece of software..

Only 2000 and XP are good, but 98se is the best out of the old Win 3.1 kernel.

Yeah, I have finally come to see XP as the next best thing, just needed to actually buy a system w/ it packaged, instead of building my own computers from scratch, thats one of the reasons I never upgraded. I may still just build my next system from scratch and buy the XP os seperately. It was bad enough spending $275 on Quickbooks pro.

At home (where I only use my PC for playing) I have WIN98SE and can't find a reason to change it to XP or anything else.

If you format your disc and re-install everything (thus meaning FB) every 3-4 months /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif you have the best playing machine.
