I had the immense pleasure of discovering the Tiny Tims today http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif. Fairly impressive, to say the least. Does anyone know what they were designed for taking out? I was playing with them doing some ground attack and while the results were extreeeeeeeeeeeemely gratifying http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif I suspect that's not their intended purpose.

While on the subject of ground attack I have just started exploring this part of the sim. What altitude do you guys start/end attacks from? I am either finishing too low or else have got my gravity settings mixed up in the conf. file. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Any tips on ground-pounding and any info on the Tiny Tims would be much appreciated.

Anyone ever scored an air-to-air hit with them?

I may be wrong but aren't they essentially a 500lb bomb with a rocket motor attached?

I think they were designed for hardened sites like bunkers, fortifications and aircraft shelters.

"What altitude do you guys start/end attacks from?"

Depends how fast the aircraft in question can go before it falls apart!
In an F6F5 (which should have Tiny Tims), you can dive from 4000m's in a 30-40 degree arc to the target and get a steady speed of 750km/h easy and remain stable. No Zeke can intercept that!

Mainly used on F4U during 1945 for anti-shipping in Okinawa.

Thanks a lot for the info about the Tiny Tims.
Re attack altitude I was wondering more what altitude you guys pull up at.

Thanks again.

after releasing? ASAP!!!

I get REALLY close before I fire rockets, to be perfectly sure of a hit. So if I don't climb like hell, I"m dead.

Me too, Boosher. Just wondering if there was something more scientific to it. this kind of query usually generates pages of technical manuals, calculations, heated discussion from all the experten. Guess ground-pounding ain't sexy enough.
Thanks for your help, m8.

They were originally designed to counter German V2 rockets and their launch sites in Europe. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

And if I drop a 5000 one with a pe8 I'm usualy at 1500-2000m and I max out everything to get away as fast as possible
