Might want to check out one of these Handy Dandy's... makes life a lot easier and downloads direct into your picture files that you have setup on computer. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

http://www.mrgadget.com.au/www/blogimages/sandisk_12in1_usb_flash_memory_card_reader.jpg

Because USB 2.0 devices are backwards compatible with USB 1.1 ports, the Sandisk ImageMate 12-in-1 Card Reader/Writer will work with all existing USB ports. The Sandisk ImageMate 12-in-1 provides the ability to write data to and read data from flash memory without connecting your digital device (digital camera, handheld computer, digital music player, etc.) directly to a computer.

Thanks for the tip pardner. I hadn't heard about this one in Waco. I'll try to make plans to go-and look for you too.

On another note, this Saturday at Meachum Field in Fort Worth, you can ride in a B-25 for $350.

D@mn! Wish I could go!

When I went to school there it was the greatest place for airshows I could remember. Mostly due to the fact that from the 3rd floor fire escape of my dorm, you could see all the aerial action better than if you were standing on the ramp. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

If you never shot airshows, here's a little tip from a considerable amount of experience doing it in yrs past. I suggest you use a 1/250 shutter speed for props and 1/500 for jets. Your cam should be able to compensate for the exposure.

Remember to try and keep the lighting behind you, but that's kinda out of your control I realize.

Position yourself with your feet well apart and your body facing forward. Pivot your upper body to track and shoot the aircraft.

A lens should be at least 300mm to get good shots of planes. I use a 100-400 for my Pentax digital, and I used to use a 100-500 when I shot film. Before that though, I got decent results with my 70-300mm lens. You can also use a doubler on less powerful lenses, though it cuts the light in half and has to be compensated for in the shutter speed.

I also suggest trying an ISO 200 to 400 setting depending on your camera. You should try to experiment a bit.

Or you can say blazes with it and just do the best you can while letting the camera worry about it. I do recommend the above shutter speeds in any event though.

Woofie-So you've got a SIIG 9 in 1,like I mentioned?If so,please let me know how it works,once you install it.

CzechTexan- Hope you can make it,I've got to go to Temple this Sat. to see a niece who's in the hospital there,so I'm going to miss Ft.Worth(and I've had it on my warbird calendar for about 6 mo.).Oh well,Life goes on.

If you make it,look out for me for sure,be glad to meet you. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/partyhat.gif

Han Freak Solo-Sorry to hear you can't make it,but that is a long drive for you.

I bet that was cool for you to just be able to check out the shows from what was temporarily home;if you need an adult beverage or a 'pit stop' just go to your room. That had to be great! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Enforcer 572005-Thanks much for the photog info,I've never been much of a shutterbug, but, seeing all the great pics here makes me want to try and get some good static plane shots. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

A couple weekends ago I went to the airshow at Alliance Airport, Fort Worth, TX. It was great with awesome acrobatics, Blue Angels, and Black Knights, etc. and many more static displays.

I have some pics of it on my photobucket page.

Must not be enough central Texans on this forum.
This thread didn't get nearly nuff atention that it deserves.
Well I'll be there. Five foot six inch white guy with a black hat that says "Retired US Army" with some 82ND airborne stuff on me too some-where. Wife and kid in tow.
I'll be hangin around the B-25 mostly.

Esel1964

M2morris-I was hoping for more interest too,M8.
But,I'll be there,so keep your eyes peeled for an offensive lineman sized wht. dude, wearing a Boonie hat of some pattern(I collect them,so I've got 1 of all issued patterns except the Mar-Pats-they're on my want list),the weather forecast is for a high of 79,with high humidity-so I'll probably go with "coffee stain",since it's the lightest. And I'll probably wear a Jagdgeschwader 300 T-shirt.

Hope to see you and CzechTexan there, and of course anyone that shows up! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

One of my best friends from school's father-in-law is the main pilot for "The Spirit of Waco",
so,I may be hanging around the A-26.

I don't know if I'll be able to make it out for sure, but I'll give it a heck of a shot. It all depends on what me missus has to say. I've been a good boy lately so maybe I'll see you guys out there Saturday. Hopefully the weather will stay as nice as it has been lately. I've been itching to take my camera to an airshow so I hope this will be my chance.

Billy-I know it's too much of a drive from O.K.C.,but I was hoping the Sooner massacre of Baylor would be here(It's going to be 63-3;OU winning-which when it comes to Baylor, all I want is losses-the Longhorns are a different story),and you could hitch a free ride with people going to the game;I could pick you up and drop you off at a restaurant,or something on the Interstate to make sure you caught your ride.
But,it's being played up there,so,nevermind;unless you were going to drive your new truck down-If so,let me know and I'll meet you at the Interstate and guide you to the airport,if you want.

But,like I said that's a he** of a drive in one day.Our house is too tiny to offer you overnight accomodations, but,if we were living at our Brazos River place, you could have your own bedroom and bathroom.(complete with Ducks Unlimited wallpaper.I did a top shelf rebuild of that place).

Anyway,take it easy,M8.

One last 'shameless' reminder,in case someone missed it-bump!Looks like there might be 2-4 of us;if my good friend that's married to "Spirit of Waco's" pilot's daughter is there,we can probably at least get in the A-26(while static),if not more.

They've been running TV ads, that you may have seen if you're in TV range of Waco;but they mention two other things that'll be there, not mentioned on the homesite, one was at least one p-47.I've forgotten the other new addition, but a group of WASP's vets will be there.I'm taking something WASP related, and a Sharpie for autographs. These ladies served countless hours of training male flight students and 'ferrying' WW2 aircraft.

One example being the lovely:

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i314/DMFesel/sharp.jpg

"EVELYN SHARP

Class: WAFS

Born: October 20, 1919
Melstone, Montana.
(Grew up in Ord, Nebraska.)

Everyn entered the WAFS inOctober, 1942. She was assigned to the 2nd Ferrying Group, New Castle Army Air Base, Wilmington, Delaware. She was killed on April 3, 1944 when an engine on the P-38 she wasferrying failed on take-off at New Cumberland, Pennsylvania (Evelyn was one of the most experienced women pilots in America, with 2,968 hours of flying time when she entered the WAFS.)"

Sure wish that P-39 would be there too. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/halo.gif I didn't get a chance to go to the last show there in Waco.
With the big female representation, I wonder if I should wear my Lilya Litvak t-shirt?

Well we were there, didn't see any of you guys, then again nobody was wearing an IL2 banner on their head either. Me and the wife n kid had to leave early, just about when the black Cessna Skymaster took-off. Too bad. Good show though anyway. That Pearl Harbor show was pretty good, although I can't stand that B5N or the D3 and those A6Ms, but thats history. It was a good show. But that was a beutiful B-25, and I think there was an F6F there too.

M2Morris-Sorry,I missed the show and a chance to get some face-face with you and if any others from the IL-2 community were there, them also.

The Mrs. must've eaten something tainted from work(she works at a GP doc's office, where they see everything imaginable-then everyday some drug company comps their lunch-and she ignores me preaching about eating in a place that has a little bit of everything airborne),because I was on 'bucket-brigade' http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i314/DMFesel/puker.gif 'til the wee hours of Sat.,before the Phenergan basically made her comatose. You couldn't tell she was alive at times.Anyway,I was too tired, and was still worried about her,so I had to stick around here.

Sorry to miss you and anyone else that was there, but, glad you enjoyed the show!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Too bad about being sick Esel, or your wife I mean. Man that sounds like it sucked. My little boy got sick while at the airshow, so thats why I had to leave early, we are very familiar with vomit also, we live life with a spewing kid, poor kid, had to take him to the ER at Ft Hood.
Well, Maybe see ya-ll next time around.

Aw man,I've gotten kinda attached to them. I know one of the guys who flew one of the A6M look-a-likes. Last I heard he was flying the bombers and one of his kids & his grandson was flying the fighters. The group was based out of Clover Field in Pearland,Texas.

Hey guys! Whoever didn't go-y'all missed a great show! I looked around for other members but didn't see anyone screaming "IL2 fan!"

I'm glad my girlfriend likes to go to airshows. Only problem is that she tends to want to sleep late on saturdays. So, we got there after 11am and didn't have much time to look at the static displays up close. I was disappointed when I had to rush to look at all of them and then the guards asked us kindly to leave.

There was that P-39 there and not the P-63 as was advertised. It was good to see that Airacobra again. I think it was an awesome show. We were able to get up close and personal with the planes and personnel. I also prefer to see the WW2 planes instead of more modern ones. The Pearl Harbor ToraToraTora reenactment was a real BLAST too! I was surprised to see it and I wasn't expecting a show like that. AND it was all free!

My girlfriend was also great at making a video with her camera. Only problem with that is I don't know how to format it to mpeg to post it on photobucket. I do have some pics of the show posted here: CzechTexan Photobucket (http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y182/CzechTexan/AIRSHOWS/)
