i also have knights of the eastern front by robert taylor. this print rocks. it started at 295 now its worth about 2000 bucks unframed. good framing costs over 500 easy. you can see the pilots eyes in most of his prints. its like looking into history

this print is signed by Erich Hartmann 352 kills, Gunther Rall 275 kills, Walter Krupinski 197 kills, Johannes "Macky" Steinhoff 176 kills, Dieter Hrabak 125 kills, Herbert Ihlefeld 130 kills... add that up. its staggering. i will never sell this print.its going to my son itll be priceless when robert taylor dies

Helio, the second one is a Taylor entitled "Return to Duxford".

Red Deth - Nice Prints. I also think Taylor is the best and have two framed prints. Where do you buy? Have you bought from any dealers on the net or do you know what kind of quality you get? Both of mine were bought at reputable art shops.

crymea river i got greycap leader at wings-fine-arts.com that site is in canada and is owned by the world famous johnnie johnson spitfire ace. he died about a year ago.

we bought the 10 sig version for 285 but it was not able to be shipped by christmas. my girlfriend bought it for me. so johnnie johnson personally gave her the 35 signature version that cost 500 bucks for the same price....295

i got nights of the eastern front about 7 years ago on the private market at wings of san francisco.

and i picked up fighter general and hostile skies and fortress under fire on ebay from a very reputable store...all 3 prints for under half of retail value. in mint unframed flat stored condition.

i recommend http://www.wings-fine-arts.com as its still run by johnnie johnsons son. ive checked out almost every single online store and this one is the best. they will give stuff away to make you happy. insanely good customer service. period

Its not for 56kers, or in my case 45 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif as all told the pages have taken about 18 minutes to load, but the patience has been well worth it, there is just so much talent. "Vertical Duel at Angles 33"

May 27, 1944, Capt. C. E. "Bud" Anderson's flight was attacked by Me 109s while protecting B-17s en route to Ludwigshaven, Germany. After breaking up their attack, Anderson ends up in a dramatic one on one dogfight at high altitude. The Me 109 makes a hard left climbing turn. Anderson cannot follow and counters by overshooting, climbing steeply trading airspeed for altitude. The Messerschmitt reverses his turn and tries to follow, but can't bring his 20mm cannon to bear on the steeply climbing P-51. The Me 109 shudders, stalls and falls away. Anderson reverses and follows. The German dives away, but seeing the Mustang now on his tail he again makes a hard left climbing turn. This time Anderson attempts to stay inside the turn of his opponent. The German reverses his turn and pulls up steeply in a bid to out climb the Mustang. Anderson follows, closes and fires the four .50 caliber machine guns getting good hits at 300 yards. The Messerschmitt bursts into smoke and flames. As it hangs on its propeller, Old Crow pulls along side for a closer look. The stricken Me 109 slowly turns and falls at high speed straight down from 33,000 feet, making a tremendous explosion as it impacts the ground. This marked Capt. Anderson's 7th victory.

P.S. and from his bio.....

"Jim fulfilled a childhood dream when he got the opportunity for a cameo role in Peter Jackson's (Lord of the Rings) remake of King Kong. Jim plays the role of a pilot of the Curtis Helldiver aircraft which fires at Kong while he is perched high above New York on the Empire State Building."

An actor to boot!

This is My favorite Dietz painting, "mud in your eye". This guy has stuff from all our wars in this century, and does some pretty neat ones of soldiers in combat, including the current war in Iraq.

I believe I photographed the original painting, or at least the world's biggest print. It was at a neat ww1 replica museum at lake Guntersville Alabama about 90 mi from my home. This place had his paintings all over the hangars, including circus at dawn.....I can only assume they were originals since they were so big. I like the Brit soldier wiht the Lewis. This came from his sight also.

the museum owner was killed in a modern plane crash about a decade ago, so i have no idea what happened to the paintings.

The one with the F4Fs above could have been used to illustrate the recent cactus dairy cmpn, as it depicts Joe Foss after a huge fight where he scored several kills i believe.

Hello megalagon.

I've found them from all over the net, but the particular one you mentioned (indeed all those of the last three posts) I got from http://www.avart.co.uk/

Just look under "World War One and Two" in the gallery.

If there are any others that you would like to know where they come from, I'd be happy to tell.

With all due respect, posts such as yours with exceptionally large images(WIDE...yours are as large as 1800 pixels wide!!!!!) make the threads difficult to enjoy ....forcing everyone to have to scroll left and right, cointinually, as they read down.. I would suggest you resize your Images/jpgs to a reasonable width ..let's say 800X600...and DEFINITELY no wider than 1024. This happens fairly frequently when these Image threads are started...

Fliegeroffizier, with all due respect, people requested larger images so I gave that to them.

You should pay attention to your own post, as your images are ridiculously large in file size. Do you realise you just posted TWO AND A HALF MEGABYTES of pictures there? A bit smarter use of JPG compression could've made them half the size with ease.

Anyway, as I see my effort isn't appreciated here, I have removed my wallpaper sized pictures and uploaded smaller ones instead.

PS. Your signature picture is rather big as well and at nearly 40 kb a bit of a waste of bandwith...

You should pay attention to your own post, as your images are ridiculously large in file size.<span class="ev_code_RED">...now, now.."ridiculously"??...is that really a necessary adjective to use? Some would take that as being intentionally challenging and disrespectful, in spite of your opening expression that you were offering 'all due respect'. Surely it would make some readers wonder just what your intent really is in your post. </span> Do you realise you just posted TWO AND A HALF MEGABYTES of pictures there? <span class="ev_code_RED">My my..must we shout?!</span> A bit smarter use of JPG compression could've made them half the size with ease. <span class="ev_code_RED"> Ahh, I see what you are saying now: you are using the phrase "..a bit smarter", subtly implying that I am not smart, without saying it outright for fear of being chastized by the moderators,no doubt..Quite a smart move, on your part.(No pun intended, of course http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)</span>
Anyway, as I see my effort isn't appreciated here, I have removed my wallpaper sized pictures and uploaded smaller ones instead. <span class="ev_code_RED">Thank you for being so cooperative. I, for one, certainly appreciate(No pun intended, again http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) that sort of effort on your part. Some less mature people would have taken offense and started an unneccesary tiff over my simple request. I'm happy( http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif) that you chose the higher road. </span>

PS. Your signature picture is rather big as well and at nearly 40 kb a bit of a waste of bandwith<span class="ev_code_RED">...Interesting observation...perhaps you should pass along your thoughts on SigBlock sizes to the moderators, as they surely would support your concern for bandwidth conservation. They obviously have set an improper/wasteful(in your opinion, it seems) standard of 40Kb per Sigblock. Your logic will surely encourage them to reduce that upper limit...I am sure many folks on this forum will thank you for making that happen. Again, thanks for being so observant and helpful on so many matters.
I do wonder about one thing though...Did you feel better when you wrote your post, somehow feeling, I imagine, that you had now hurt me more than you were hurt By me??? Odd, since my post was intended to be merely a polite request/suggestion, and specifically noted that not ALL forum members would necessarily agree with me. Sorry that you took such huge personal offense. You certainly didn't have to change your post/images soley for my benefit...I only suggested. Frankly, having glanced at them,in passing, the first time, I could care less if I ever saw them again...in any size. ...but then, since you actually did change the sizes, I have to conclude, logically, that you must agree with me....but, then, why the post which could be mistakenly taken by some as a Rant of some sort? It's quite a mystery.

I'd suggest(Just a Suggestion) that you please put your Wallpapers back in your post. .</span>

Here are some addtiional comments:

First: Again, thanks for reducing the width of your images.

Second: An efficient way of doing it is to display such reduced width(1024 or less) images here, with them set as links to download your much larger wallpaper sized images/files, 1600 pixel width wallpapers. One doesn't need to post them here in this thread full size, for the reasons mentioned in my first post. If using an image as a link is new to you technologicaly speaking, ask and I'll help explain it to you (UBB code is not really too difficult, but some people have a hard time grasping it).

Third: I realize exactly what the file sizes are in my post...thank you for mentioning it.

Fourth: My sigblock is well within the standards/limitations of the Forum...and I couldn't care less what you think about it. Doesn't it make you appear a bit immature or childish to attack my Sigblock...by saying that you consider it a waste of space? What did that comment have to do with anything? Am I supposed to counter by critiquing/attacking your sigblock now?
You certainly should understand, by this point, exactly how foolish such an act would make one appear.

I'm all for politeness and cooperation... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif

It was never built.

Glad you like it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

They're strange looking Spits though, on collision path with a Boeing 737! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
The scene/lighting is nice tho.
