Just a quick, somewhat OT question. I suspect that the Ubi forum stuff is running on a Windoze box?
If so, why?

Don't get me wrong, Windoze has it's place but, IMHO, completely sucks as a server platform - just look how many database errors and speed problems we get.

Are there any plans to put this onto a more stable and performant Unix platform? Heck, even a decent PC with Linux or FreeBSD will be better.

ta,
Matt.

Ubi's technical staff are thoroughly investigating ways to improve the performance. In due course, they will be implementing the results of their investigation.

Hehehehehe,
Tully , you still don't get it , do you? UBI will implement a real server when the pigs will fly high above and I'm not talkin' about the Blitz ones! Is just because there's no will at UBI , is that simple. For the ones crying about how bad and slow UBI forums are working , I suggest to drop it , otherwise , you , like me , will be warned that if you don't quit whinning about , you will be banned. Is how it works here , so I'll comply:
The best boards in the world are held at UBI , they are fast , reliable , error free and all goodies you can imagine. I'm glad to see that I'm taking active part of such boards. Thank you!

Zayets, wanna bet? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Besides the boards ran fine while Mr. C was away so I'd look for the source of these errors elsewhere.

Let me repeat what Tully said (da man got a way with words). Ubi's technical staff are thoroughly investigating ways to improve the performance. In due course, they will be implementing the results of their investigation.

Ven,
Nice to see you're closely watching this forum. One thing is not clear to me. You wanna bet on the fact that UBI investigate the problem or on the fact that in the future this board will run as Carl Lewis? If is for the first one , lemme tell you that I will not take that one , you can say anything , but I don't have to believe that UBI really investigates. On the second one , if they will stick with what they have in present , I will take it!

And Ven , lemme quote you for a sec :

- Besides the boards ran fine while Mr. C was away so
- I'd look for the source of these errors elsewhere.

Typical corporation answer. WE ARE NOT THE SOURCE OF THE ERRORS OUR USER(S) EXPERIENCED LATELY. Hmmmmm... I wonder where I did seen that.To many places I believe.
So , I'll repeat it again , UBI products are the best , is us , the users making mistakes. I have never questioning the quality delivered by any UBI product , it was just my dumb ignorance thinking that I know some things here and there. Appologize again.

First time in a week that I have been able to post w/out getting the "You have been banned" notice.

To whomever at UBI who fixed this you have my thanks.
