I picked up a Air & Space Magazine. Inside I read about a float plane that was launched from a submarine. It was called a AICHI M6A1 SERIAN. Has there been any interest in including this aircraft and if not, is it possible to suggest to someone to include it in an addon in the future?

Seiran (http://www.combinedfleet.com/ijna/m6a.htm)

and this (http://www.whitver.com/detail_pages/expository/poster_details/seiran_poster_detail.html) too

here is a very interesting site (http://www.combinedfleet.com/sensuikan.htm) related to the Japanese submarine fleet in general and the I-13 I-14 I-400 and I-401 Seiran carrying subs in particular.

There was a show on Discovery channel a while ago about those subs. IIRC those subs were the largest of the WW2. Pilots seemed to like the plane, which apparantly was very 'hi-tech' for the time. One even said the only reason he survived the war was because he flew the Seiran.

This is a great read on the I-400. Tom Paine's journal about the journey across the Pacific is particularly entertaining http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

After looking at these old pictures and articles, I begin to think about things...which is rarely good...but I wonder how advantageous this old concept would be today?...

Not for full size, piloted aircraft...but for Predators or some variation of remotely piloted strike aircraft. Not just cruise missiles - but strike planes with loiter capability and post launch tasking capability.

Imagine using modern day submarines with squadrons of strike fighters hidden within.
You could place several hundred aircraft within a few miles of any coastline completely undetected as they are concealed within a submerged aircraft carrier

AWESOME.

There was a non-commercial add-on for CFS2 called "Serian project", that featured the wing folding sequence and the catapult launch, it was quite cool for that sim.
