So there I was last night, circa 1942, just thundering on down the runway from my aerodrome west of Leningrad in my hurridly patched-up IL-2, headed out to thump some German armour, when suddenly there was an alarming BANG noise from somewhere under or behind me.

I thought maybe it was a blown tire or my flaps falling off but on inspection, both seemed ok. The flight handling didnt seem off, so I dont think it was a cable snapping somewhere inside. There wasnt any enemy planes nearby so it wasnt an attack.

Anybody have an explanation for this noise?
Did my airframe crack?
Was some wise-*** ground crew setting off fireworks beside the runway?
What gives?

Maybe it was one of the bolts for the tie-downs pulling loose. Did you do a thorough walk-around?

Maybe your speakers popped?

It was probably a tank or plane firing from a few miles away.

I was already a longway down the runway when the BANG occurred, so I dont think it was a tie-down line.

It wasnt my speakers popping. It was a definate game generated noise.

When I replayed the flight the noise re-occurred each time at about the same time-interval (ie not the exact same position of my plane in relationship to the ground).

It could have been ground fire nearby but as there were no close ground troops, I'm sceptical.

I hear the same noise in almost every QMB on Crimea map, but I assumed it was the naval guns shooting.
Funny, after that bang, the overall volume level seems to go down a liitle, and then after a while, the bang appears again and the sound comes back to normal.....

A 'good' landing is one from which you can walk away. A 'great'
landing is one after which they can use the plane again<center>

I've had some crazy sound issues today. Sometimes at the beginning of a mission my men talk in Russian to me although I am flying for the LW.

Then some explosions sound so loud that it sounds like it happened in my seat but they are supposed to be miles away, and when auto pilot is on for a long mission and he puts down the flaps the warning beeper suddenly got so loud it almost wrecked my speaker.

Yep, the current 1.11 simulates perfectly the often used "enhancer". Opposite to the western-front's silencer, the enhacer scares the sh*t out of any enemy around.
I guess it was part of the Blitzkrieg-strategy....

I get the same noise at times too. Especially when I'm too lazy to fly the entire mission, and fast forward the game. I dont think it will hurt anything, just sounds like your speakers are about to blow.

There are tanks that sometimes sound like they are in the cockpit with you, this is just dandy when you have the speakers set to a nice volume for the normal sounds of the game. . then blammo. . .you are blasted out of your chair and left shell shocked while starring at your monitor from the floor. . .wondering. . . "what the heck was that!?"

Its a bug. . which could use a fix. . .unless 1C plans on making hearing aids and speaker sets in the near future. . then it could be a smart (though dastardly) economic plan.

Speaker on nice volume?
I use Headphones (conected to the speakers), set atlmost at max, i like to recreate the sounds of the engine like it was in RL, an the first time I heard that BANG, I was depth for about half an hour!

Not only is it a bug, it's a bug that needs fixing far more than any bloody FMs or rollrates. I'm running out of underwear!
