I'm getting high ping warnings and getting kicked from servers that I never used to get kicked from after upgrading to PF, even though the bars and ping look solid and everything is smooth at the time I get the boot. Has anyone else seen anything like this? Any solutions?

Yup, don't bother joining a server with high cheat settings, they're like a revolving door, everyone getting kicked regardless of pings. The comming and going of players only adds to the lag, as if the ships all crammed together with uncontrolled flak wasn't bad enough.

I actually went back to 2.04 most of the night until one descent server popped up. Most of the current hosts don't have a clue it's them causing the problems.

So why is this new with PF?

Memory leak, wait for patch.

Anyone have details on this memory leak?

Not just a memory leak. There's no dedicated server yet, so all PF servers are running graphics for the host as well as doing the server thing. This affects server network performance and can on some servers cause false positives for the "cheat" detection.

I second what Tully said. Don't expect too much of a non-dedicated server as you don't know how hard it has to work to render the graphics on the host-pc. A dedicated server only calculates the network code.
