hello, i noticed somthing in the game the other day that puzzled me, i wonder if anyone could help explain why this happens, picture this, im about 3000m away from a convoy, to its rear starboard side. the lone v+w DD escort is out in front, im unseen as of yet. ok so this is the point in this save game i start at. if i play in real time i can close right into the middle of the convoy without the DD closing in on me,or seeming to spot me, BUT if i use any time compression (same speed/course etc)the DD will 100% of the time close in before i can get into the convoy, the search lights on fireing away etc, i can recreate this 100% of the time, so whats going on? if using time compression is the game using a different set of rules?

Yeah at high time compression the computer has to do the calculations faster so uses a simpler "spotting" method. It will see and hear you at long distance.

Basically only use up to 4x speed if you have to, and if possible dont use it at all when sneaking. Its inevitable that the computer cant work out sight and everything in the same way at 256x speed ect.

I find its not so noticable at 2x or 4x. I usually only use these if i want to speed time up.

A note on it at the bottom of that page.
