You ought to buy IL2 1946 instead. You will get a lot more content. Wal-mart has it for $30.

Don't mess with PF; get IL-2 1946 and get all of the PF content plus a ton more stuff. The number of flyable aircraft in 1946 is astounding.

See this link:
http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/26310365/m/146...831020403#8831020403 (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/26310365/m/1461034303?r=8831020403#8831020403)

That will only tell you most of the flyables in Pacific Fighters because several more (including the Japanese Betty bomber and the RAF Tempest Mk.V and Mosquito) were added in upgrade patches that eventually brought the game up to version 4.04.

Edit: Here is a brief list of additions to Pacific Fighters 'standalone' via uprade patches up to and including v4.02:
Upgrade patches have added new maps and some flyable planes:
Maps
Singapore1
Singapore2
Marianas
Flyables
Buffalo MK I
F2A-2 "Buffalo", 1940
P-38L Late, 1944
P-47D, 1944 -- boosted performance
Spitfire MK.Vc (2 cannons), 1941
G4M1-11 "Betty", 1941
Ki-100I Ko, 1945
AI Planes
G4M2E Betty, 1945
MXY7 Ohka, 1945

The second list (in my post at the page I linked above) continues the list of all the available flyables you would have had at that time if you used PF as an expansion for Forgotten Battles and Aces Expansion Pack. That list is now grossly incomplete due to the upgrade patches that brought the 'merged' version up to 4.04m (there were many more planes included in those patches than in the ones for the 'stand-alone' PF game), plus the six flyable Pe-2/Pe-3s in the "Pe-2 Peshka" expansion v4.05m, plus all the new flyables in the "'46" and "Sturmoviks Over Manchuria" expansions that were simply included on the IL-2: 1946 DVD along with FB+AEP+PF.

What you really need to see is the contents pages for the Aircraft Guide .PDF that comes with 1946 that lists all of the flyables. Those were posted in a thread here recently but I can't find the post right now. Or, look for Hardball's Aircraft Viewer that is now updated for 1946 ... you don't need the game to use this utility which is designed to compare any two aircraft for strengths vs. weaknesses. Just install the viewer and then you can flip through and see what planes are flyable and the specific features of each.

I just want to add a little more 'plug' for the 1946 DVD:

The full list of new flyables in the PF 'merged' upgrade patches 3.01m-4.04m included the Mc200, Mc202, Mc205, Ju-88, and Do-335A. There were also 'boosted' versions of the Bf109K, Spitfire IX (as I recall) and P-47D. New maps included Murmansk, Kurland and a fictional 'Northwest Europe', all by Ian Boys.

I already mentioned the six flyable Pe-2/Pe-s in the 4.05 expansion.

The content new on the DVD includes:

Planes flyable:
Nakajima Ki-27 Ko, 1938
Nakajima Ki-27 Otsu, 1938
Nakajima Ki-43-II, 1942
Nakajima Ki-43-II Kai, 1943
Mitsubishi J2M5, 1944
Kawanishi N1K2-Ja, 1944
Arado Ar-234B Blitz
Dornier Do-335V-13
Heinkel He-L-IIIB-2 Lerche
Heinkel He-162B
Heinkel He-162C
Messerschmitt Me-262HG-II
Focke-Wulf Ta-152C
Focke-Wulf Ta-183
Douglas A-20C, 1941
Ilyushin Il-10, 1945
Bereznyak-Isaev BI-6
Lavochkin LaGG-3R
Lavochkin La-7R
Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-9 Prototype
Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-9FS
Mikoyan-Gurevich I-250 (MiG-13)
Yakovlev Yak-3 VK-107A
Yakovlev Yak-3R
Yakovlev Yak-15

Planes AI:
Mitsubishi A5M4, 1938
Nakajima B6N2, 1943
Mitsubishi Ki-21-I, 1937
Mitsubishi Ki-21-II, 1940

Maps:
Manchuria
Burma
Khalkin-Gol (online)
Kiev

Finally, the 4.08m patch for the DVD version added a few additional maps including Norway/Scotland; and a medium sized Italy and a small African coastal map, both meant for online play.

Buying PF is a waste of monewy. Get 46, PF is in there and a lot more. It's like buying The Phantom Menace at full price when you can get the whole 6 episode series for even less.

First of all you'll need to locate IL2 1946,But the hunt will be worth the effort.
It contains over 200 flyable aircraft and every segmenet of the IL2 Sturmovik flight sim series.
Last time i saw one at Walmart it was selling for an incredible $19.95.
As stated above DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON PACIFIC FIGHTERS !!

Another vote for buying IL2:1946. There was some code optimization in 1946 that gives me (and others) smoother game play and about 2 extra frames per second on average. Plus you get all the planes, all the maps, and patch it to 4.08m and there are plenty of online squadrons and servers available.

Go for IL-2 1946... much much much more content (planes, maps, missions, etc.)

This is what you get to fly in Sturmovik: 1946

Plus, some planes listed under "Axis" can also be used as "Allied" (Hurricane Mk. I for instance) with the correct skins.
