View Full Version : Just for fun

Posting one of those "feel good moments" from a sortie I had tonight..

Was flying on Spits vs 109's on the "sink the Tirpitz" map, and was doing anti shipping runs against the allied forces.

I inbound on a run in my Ju-88, and off at my 11 o'clock I see tracers.. one set from a Spit and one set from another 88, who was on his way back from the ships. I had two choices, which was leave him alone to fend off the fighter, or try to help him out.

I jettisoned my bombs, put the throttles to the wall, and turned towards the fight.. as I get closer I can see the 88 is smoking, and the Spit is coming in for another run. I turned, and actually came in behind the spit and my forward gunner opened up- meanwhile the other 88 executed a hard turn, and I altered course to follow..

Long of it short, I pulled in behind my fellow 88 pilot on his low 6, and now the Spit had to deal with the guns of the two of us- so he broke off. Made me feel good it did. Wish things like that happened more often on DF servers. I could have kept going towards the objective, for another ship painting to add to my tail.. But thought it best to see to it that my ally made it home.

Nice job!

I love those 'teamwork' moments.

Ukdedicated2 has a great Tirpitz map by Icefire too! FAntastic planeset, works really well.

Fighter/fighter bombers in the planeset are :-

Corsair/Seafire LF/Hellcat vs Fw190A5/109G6/Me110G2.

Leads to amazing dogfights etc

Well, I figure that most of the time, on DF servers, getting fighter cover over target areas is never a guarantee, and I don't expect it.. But love it when it does happen. So, it was the least I could do for the other bomber.. Though I admit that it made me wish again that the "C" model 88's had been put into the game (one was completed if I recall...). Would have been nice to put some 20mm hurt on that spit.

Had some more fun on another mission, where (gads I know, the NERVE) I took some bombs to an allied airbase, "gave" them to a P-38, then circled the base using my gunners to "strafe". Was fun shooting up fighters as they tried to get airborne.. AAA and a fighter from a nearby airfield finally brought me down.. Felt good in a sadistic kind of way.. the "HAH! Who's vulnerable now!!"

It's kind of a shame that since this is a "game" that some fighter jocks don't fly more cautiously.. With the frequency that fighter-jocks line up right behind me nice and slow.. It's amazing to watch these guys get their plane shot to **** just to bring me down. Many a time I've been brought down, but took the single seater with me.. Guess the saying goes "If I had a dime..."

Someday I think I'll start actually recording my adventures in Bomberland. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
