Is there any way I can get any of you guys to get a good photograph of this airplane. It is a Curtiss Hawk III that I had no idea existed.

The airplane is in the Chinese Air Museum.

Ok, anyone plan to visit China?

Shameless serious begging going on here http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

Hawk, try PMing Pirschjaeger. I may be wrong, but I believe he lives in Peking (or Beijing, or whatever the politically correct spelling is this week). If it's in his area, I'll bet he'd be glad to visit the museum. Also, might try the Warclouds forum. Yum Yum lives somewhere in China, though I don't know where.

I'm having fun playing web detective.

Haven't found a photo yet. I did find out, though that it is a replica.

Give me a few hours and I should be able to find a picture somewhere.

Ok, makes a little more sence. I found this about the mosquito that is there. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

Mosquito (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.mossie.org/images/China/Markus_Schmidt/t_P3.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.mossie.org/China.htm&h=103&w=150&sz=2&tbnid=LVA3Cyba7mYJ:&tbnh=61&tbnw=90&hl=en&start=56&prev=/images%3Fq%3DCHINA%2BAVIATION%2BMUSEUM%26start%3D4 0%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26safe%3Doff%26sa %3DN)

SO it looks like the Hawk may be the same thing. A mock-up using spare parts. I would still like to know what all "real" parts are there.

I wish I could post my web site here but the band width is very limited. I have a vast collection of Curtiss Bi-plane Hawks on it as well as my 82% scale P-6E project powered by a 383 Stroker.

I have several photos of Curtiss Export Hawks II and III but all I need is info on the Hawk III in the China Museum.

There is only one known to exist and that is the Thia Hawk III Thai Museum Hawk III (http://members.tripod.com/peterlewisdesign/thaimuseum/hawk3.htm)

There is only one known Hawk II left and that is Udet's Hawk II in the Polish Museum

There is only one P-6E Hawk left and it is in the Air FOrce museum. There is one full scale original factory specs P-6E replica in the EAA museum.

There is one BFC-2 in the Pensacola Naval Museum.

I also collect them so if you have any original pics, let me know!!

Thanks for any and all info posted though....TY !!!!!

Here is one of 8 x 10s of a Columbian Hawk II on floats. This is my photo in my collection....copy and enjoy!

Ok, one last one. This is my friend Paul Johnson's 82% scale Curtiss F11C-2 Goshawk (same as the Export Hawk II). It is built from the SACO P-6E Plans. The only mods are the extended landing gear and the 300hp Jacobs engine as well as a modified tail wheel assymbly.
