View Full Version : OH LORDY, Patch 4.02....NO, NOT NOW!

Because my computer blew up last night and my computer wiz son won't be able to help me out until this weekend. Oh Nooooooo........ http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

Actually, it looks like my monitor went south--my son and I installed my new (thanks to reading these these forums lately) Audigy 2 X-FI card and hooked up my new Medusa 5.1 headphones. (I decided I needed to treat myself after several recent untimely/unexpected deaths among family and friends; you can't take it with you so you might as well enjoy it now.) Anyway, we had the game up, then minimized it, and when I clicked on it in the tray, the screen went blank--no signal, no matter what we tried, although he didn't have much time to troubleshoot. The monitor itself is only 4 months old--Viewsonic 19" LCD, but the computer starts up and so does Windows (I can hear the jingle), but I just get a black screen.

So, just to add to my frustration, can someone tell me if the AI problems with crashing into the ground and wierd attack manuevers has been fixed? And do the planes now taxi like they did before PF came out?

Looks like we may be premature on the patch it seems!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Had a similar problem with a monitor once. I had just got it and was fiddling with the resolutions (all under the max resolution - I had another "once" which was a bit more serious a few years previously. After changing it maybe five times, some lines appeared at the bottom of the screen, then it went Pfft and that was that. I sent it back to the supplier and they gave me a new one. Some faulty part. Only took about a week to get it back so bear up. At least you have a nice sig image http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Re the patch, I'll check out that mountain mission in SCW and see how the AI go.
Ground handling seemed a little heavier. Wait, what do I know, I played the new version once.
Ill go check and post my IMPRESSIONS (note any flamers out there, I'm not claiming it as fact)and get back to you.

Hey FSM, much appreciate your pep talk on the monitor and looking forward to your impressions. Thanks goodness I can steal quick peeks at the forums from work. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

And yes, that is a mighty nice sig, isn't it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

It seems that the planes ARE a bit heavier on the ground. I was able to run across the runway and take off from the grass in a few different planes. Around 70%throttle I started jolting around but it seemed less than before.
P47 still fires in synch, not that I care much as I rarely fly it and am fairly unfussy about such details.
I have a "feeling" things are more stable and smooth in the air but again, hard to be sure. You know when you are looking for changes you can find them just about anywhere. Hard to know what's really changed and what is just imagination/wishful thinking.

Check out this weird muzzle flash from the 190 which I just randomly tried out. Seems odd, don't you think?

Re muzzle flash - TOAD said it is like this whenever you fire the bigger guns while stationary. Just goes to show what patch hysteria does, eh?
Re AI - just played the one in mountains map where the U-2s are flying around as prey for the 109s. This evening the 109s all took off and wreaked havoc on the U-2s. Tonight the 109s all flew into mountain after take off. Looks like the bug is still there.
