Dots appear very realistic.

Additionally, you fixed the auto-mixture on the Wildcat. Thanks for that.

The P-40 DM now seems much more reasonable.

Everything seems to LOOK better, and I'm getting great frames rates in PERFECT on my moderate P4 2.24, 512meg, Ti-4600. In fact, everything is now looking and working better than it ever has!

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif I downloaded the new 3.02mb... but I haven't had much of a chance run a couple of missions with different aircraft and settings.
Still playing with Cat Drivers for my 9800 Pro.
I've been having lots of problems with the 4.11 Driver. Runs fine at first... but then things start going out of wack.
And I've been using steve-v's directions for uninstall and install with make a big different with graphic's.
Finnally went back to the 4.10 for the third time and I'm going to wait for the new 4.12 to come out from ATI.
I must say the overall graphics are looking great with PF when thing are running right.
And I've been able to crank up my Graphic Card and the Game Controls to Perfect Settings... and with no studder or frame freeze.
Great Stuff!

The game runs smoother than ever with the new patch.
Great job!

Dots are still resolution dependent. SkyChimp, what resolution do you run Perfect with Ti~4600? I think Perfect Mode with high aniso filtering and antialiasing are why high end simmers flying high performance UltraPro video cards are running 1024x768, or maybe low res helps internet dogfight framerate, not sure.

Overall, better dots than 3.0, but nowhere as realistic as 3.01 with dotrange reduced by player to 8km--depending on resolution (I run ATI~9200 at Excellent Mode 1024x768 and 1152x854). Default 3.01 dotrange was releaced at far too high 11-14 kilometers, except maybe for highest resolutions.

I haven't turned on that feature (not even sure how), but it's silky smooth.

How about antialiasing and anisotropic filtering? What settings do you use?

I have a system very similar to yours but have never been able to get acceptably smooth framerates in Perfect mode.

Example of "rcu" file with alias command I set for fps meter link below....when set up, just type in "f" to turn fps meter on, and "nf" to turn off, or whaterver keyboard command you wish.

Czech out the test "rcu" file and dot test mission. If you have never tried fps in "rcu" you may have never tried controlling dots with mp_dotrange. It worked wonders with 3.01 dots. Doesn't work so well with 3.02 dots--I think because the 3.02 dots are back to 1-pixel for all ranges near and far.

seems to me that the p-40's still flame very easy, and the f4u-d has a '1 hit knockout' engine; 1 hit and ur a glider.

p-38's: seems the climbrate is about half of what it was earlier. only about 50' per sec climbrate (50' per altimter tick on speedbar per sec). other planes seems to eat a good 100' per sec...ki-84 tho seems to have the p-38's climbrate. that pos climbs fast at the 38's best climb speed of 180 mph; and yea, it was done in crimea map.

jug dive rate now down. bad. a ki-84 will easily go to 800+kmh in a dive, breaks up around 850. NO snapping of wings when pulling out either. hmm, a ricecake that wont shed wings at that speed. i smell uber. 51's will snap wings at 500 indicated if u even sneeze.

chimpy, where's the charts on the 38's. i cant figure out how to post em here.

The new exe runs fine here and I very much like the new dots, although I think the distance at which you can pick up an aircraft against the sky (~ 5.5 km in 1600 x 1200) is perhaps a bit pessimistic. I'll have to test it more. Looks good anyway.

I still get horrible corruption with Catalyst 4.11, so I am staying with 4.10 for the moment.

Thanks for the note on the Wildcat mixture Skychimp. I didn't know if it was "feature or bug" until you mentioned it.

Regards,

RocketDog.

Nvidia aren`t that bad at all. Very good actually. I`ve been flying around on a TI4200 128meg on perfect with mirror on with 3.00. I must admit that I`ve not tried with AA though - the new patch must be very good indeed!

I´ve been using my NVidia 5900 at 1280 x960 at FSAA 4X since Ace 2.0. With tha ATI I had before I could not even see things near ground due to Z fighting.

Nvidia is the best here. Which card brings the most graphic/driver problems with PF? ATI.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

No seriosly I've had nVidia since TNT2 till FX5200 then bought ATI http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif. Only difference for me was: Better performance with ATI http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

But no one notice that the maximum range the enemy fighter which higher or at horizon can be seen has been reduced too much compare than AEP or PF3.00.that is really bad http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

Oleg responded elsewhere to say that fix did not actually make it into the beta patch, but is done and ready for the next. It's inclusion in the readme was a mistake.

The patch seem to have fixed these annoying cacheing pauses which took up to several seconds.

Now the game uses 1.7 GB RAM for missions that in ACE used 400 MB. Ridiculous. How many players have > 1 GB ram? I have 1 GB and game is unplayable.. sutters all time..

strangely.. that is with OLD exe.. with new one it gets 900 MB

What graphic/driver problems are there?
I have not seen any of them so far with 4.10, 4.11 and the 4.12 drivers.

I have a X800 Pro as well, didn't see any of those errors on my system.

Running in 1600x1200 32Bit, S3TC enabled, 2xFSAA, no AF, Trilinear in Perfect mode.

Cat 4.12 Beta with 4.11 CCC.

Before I used the Cat 4.11, same settings as now.

Graphical errors like no textures at all in some planes. Tracks does not play, just NULL errors.
