View Full Version : What are the "Enhanced Damage Effects" and "Merged Campaign" Mods in GW2.0?

Finally, got my gaming system finished and have installed Grey Wolves 2.0. I'm enabling certain mods that came with it and I've noticed two called "Enhanced Damage Effects" and "Merged Campaign." I've enabled the damage effects mod, which in spite of lack of documentation I know I will probably enjoy, but I have no idea what the merged campaign mod does. Any ideas?

Merged Campaign:

This is the main Atlantic, Black Sea & Indian Ocean campaigns merged into one. So if yo udon't mind the extra loading time you can use this mod. Otherwise, if you transfer to the Black Sea or Indian Ocean, you must enable to relevant optional mod after you have transfered.

Enhanced Damage Mod:

This option adds several effects intended to better simulate the effects on surface ships (to include surfaced submarines) of hits by bombs, gunfire, and torpedoes, including:

" Oil slicks and trails

" Large oil slicks and oil trails in the path of damaged ships, especially tankers
" Oil slick color is now less violet-colored and closer to the real color of oil

" Fires and Explosions

" Reduced some of the impact of fires on display FPS rate compared to stock Silent Hunter III
" Corrected stock Silent Hunter III bugs with catastrophic aircraft explosions, small fires, and depth charge detonations
" More splinters in explosions with splinters, and more explosions with splinters in general
" Large secondary explosions
" Improved fire and smoke effects
" More below-water explosion effects and bubbles as ships sink

" Sound effects

" All fires now have sound effects
" You can hear fires in large damaged ships through hydrophones in some conditions
" Added and adjusted new sound effects for explosions

Note: The new effects will not always appear, since the effect depends on where the target ship is hit.

Hope this answers all. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Thanks, that's all I needed to know! Oh, before I forget, I've read through the Grey Wolves manual and it references add-ons for use with SH3 Commander: GWX Skin Pack and Aircraft Markings Add-on. I went to the GWX site but they seem not to be available for downloading yet. Am I missing something or will these be made available later? I'm all set to sail, but I wish to enable a complete set of mods before I do.

On a side note, thank you for dropping by here and contributing to discussions. It's nice to have a dev team member here.

Danlisa;

I stand in awe!

The improvements your team has implemented without the benefit of a SDK are nothing short of amazing! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Thank you for keeping my favorite game "New and Challenging"!!!!

OK:

Date Based Skin Pack (SH3 Cmdr version), this is not currently compatible with GWX 2.0. We have edited all of the ships in GWX 2.0, this includes renaming and DAT changes. The pack will not work with out serious work. However, all is not lost, GWX 2.0 contains superior skins that were available in the pack and alll ships will display mid/late war skins. Just take a look at them near dusk/dawn. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Aircraft Markings (SH3 Cmdr), this addon is currently being edited to work with GWX 2.0. As you may know, the aircraft are nearly all new and unique to GWX (models) as such, no one has had the time to correct the markings pack. Someone is on it though. If you should experience any problems with the markings pack while using GWX 2.0, look inside SH3Cmdr, rollback and search the Cmdr program folder for 'markings' you should find about 37 items, you can safely delete them.

These items will be added to the website as soon as they are made compatible. Trust me, I have to add them. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

As for being around in the Ubi Forums, I've been registered for a long time and will always check in to see if there are any issues that I can help with. It's the least I/we can do after you guys continue to play GWX.

Thank You.

Very kind of you Sir.

While we don't have a SDK, we do have 3 very talented 'technomages' (read HEX editors), who continually amaze the rest of the team. This coupled with some of the custom tools they have developed, there isn't much we can't access/mod.

This alone allows the team to constantly raise the bar and to keep you guys interested.

Sometimes, they make the other members of the team feel so inadequate. LOL

Thank you for those answers. Looks like I'm ready to go. K-61 now runs for the exits, hearing the tune, "Muss I Denn?" in his head.
