Came across this site and it had some great camera footage, theres a great moment with a 109 being chased by a Yak and a P51 on the tail of a Fw190d. Some other great stuff too. This is the real deal, but even back then they were cheating! they still manage to get away from using the cockpit view /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Hope you enjoy it

Great clips!

However, I'm pretty sure that the one where that B-17 is landing with one wheel is from (or was in ?) movie "Tora Tora Tora". So either the filmakers used actual footage in that movie or that footage is just a movieclip...

Verry cool. Thanks for the link.
I just entered the 21st Century w/ highspeed connection. Now I can look at things not reasonable w/56k.

Interesting to note that these pilots were mostly (on this set of vids) shooting from the six, a big no-no so says everyone else.
Only one deflection shot and he had to stop to let a friendly by.

Apparently he wasn't flying in some of the HL rooms. lol

LOL... I went to the site, was impressed as well with the first few clips(tho I had seen some before.)

Then, as I scrolled down, I realized/saw that a good half dozen or more are simulated guncam clips which I made a long time ago.../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif They were taken from my site! LOL
No problem with that, as I specifically state it is okay to do so on my site, but I Did ask that credit be given to Authorship "By Wiley Coyote" and/or that a link be provided back to my site. Again, I don't really have a problem with it, at all. I AM curious if the Czech Text says which clips are Real and which are Simulated....Any Czech speakers around here??

I particularly enjoyed making the one clip of a Spitfire being shot down, with the intro text saying it was shot down by Adolph Galland over Dover, then implying that the little movie of Galland describing a kill was following that engagement....I made it all up! (Well, the Galland movie is real, of course... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif )

By the Way, for those interested, there is a LOT more guncam footage(Real AND Simulated) on my Site(See sig block below, IF the Sig block works again on this forum!!!)

Oberst -

I was laughing too. I knew I had seen those clips somewhere before! It doesn't even look like they give credit to the fact that it is a sim (no Forgotten Battles mention - at least it doesn't look like it from my viewpoint).

I can vouch for Wiley's site - really cool stuff.

BTW, do you take submissions? And if so, what are the requirements?

Submissions?? Ys. If you look carefully as you browse the site, there are a couple of other fellas whose simulated guncam films are showcased, with apprpriate Credits and/or links to their homesites. The same is true for homemade 'videos'/'movies'.

As for criteria/requirements, I subjectively pick and choose. My main theme is WWII era realism...

Therefore, I exclude, generally speaking, movies of generic aerobatics, or humorous movies, or fantasy-skins, etc....even though many of those are extremely well done.

In that same vein, I don't host ANY pictures/images/'videos' which show FB icons, text, etc..those destroy the immersion/simulation of reality, imho.

And, with specific regard to simulated guncam clips, I host practically None which show the gunsight reticle/crosshairs...Such clips, in the real world of WWII, were extremely rare.

While the homemade videos/movies are fine with the Clarity of FB graphics/color/resolution, for simulated guncam clips I lean towards those in greyscale with some degree of artificial'aging'. There was some WWII guncam film in color, but not a lot(I understand that in the pacific, the color film which was used for a time deteriorated rapidly/completely in many cases, and little was saved for posterity) I have just recently added some Real color guncam footage which IS in color, and is from the Pacific theater.

Feel free to EMail me thru the Site, or PM on this forum if you have any 'submissions'...

Thanks wiley, I like your site, I visit quiet often. BTW, what's the name of the music in the movie "WWII" other than "the great escape" sound track? I would like to know because I use "great escape" sound track music in FB, and it really matches /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Thanks again.

did you notice how many hits from 20mm and the planes are still in one piece?

-------------

"The picture repeats itself when operations, which began with great intent and local successes, degenerated into senseless, wild hammering at fixed front-line positions once they encounter initial heavy losses and unforeseen situations. This incomprehensible phenomenon appears again and again. But, even in extremis, the Russian is never logical; he falls back on his natural instinct, and the nature of the Russian is to use mass, steamroller tactics, and adherence to given objectives without regard to changing situations."

German 9th Army report after repulsing the Soviet offensive "Mars" in Rzhev bulge, December 1942.

Porsimo, that clip of the damaged B17 landing on one wheel is actual footage, incorporated into the film.
