Well I jumped in and did the Newview thing. Okay, I'm sold. Perrty nifty. But, I haven't really figured out all the somewhat disjointed info that has been put out on it on the various forums. On a couple flt sim forums, I found some install instructions, a nice example ini file, and some good info. Then, I ran across the Natural Point site forum, and a guy there says to loadup and run TrackIR software, and essentially use it to map the joystick system. So the question is, are you supposed to run Newview and configure it, or TrackIR, or both, or either, what?

At the moment I'm going to try and get Newview/IL2FB to map my old RCS into the input so it will run with my Freedom 2.4. Not sure that'll work but gonna try.

Be nice to know if Newview was all I needed, or if I also need TrackIR.

Yeah thanks, I used that thread to get my Newview up and running. Worked pretty well. But then I ran across this thread:

http://forums.naturalpoint.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=8;t=000073

Which served to confuse me a bit. The guys says, you have to use the latest TrackIR software (free, I think), for IL2FB. I'm like huh? Thought Newview was all I needed, and what's more it works so why would I want TrackIR. Other than it's a nice English GUI interface.

I haven't delved into it, maybe TrackIR is for IR Headgear only or something.

The TrackIR software is specifically for the IR headset.
NewView hooks into FB's TrackIR capability.
So you don't need the TrackIR software just the Niewview prog.
