Which of these aircraft would you usually fly in IL-2? btw, the 190D is rather different in terms of performance from the As and there are probable people who, like me, would fly 109s and 190Ds

uhh...what about neither or none...

I rarely pick the german rides if I can avoid them, even if I'm stuck with likes of the I-16.

FW190 A4 to 8

I dont like the Doras, they have an issue that when you apply the war emergency power in low atltitudes the engine lose energy and 2 minutes after the engine dies and the prop stop spinning, i cant figure it out how to solve this..or it is something that im not doing right, the same goes to the 109k.

Whenever you engage the MW 50 make sure your throttle is around 70% and never engage it at max power

I may eventually get to the German aircraft once I'm 'burnt out' on my current favs (pun intended). BTW, the tiny frontal view of those German fighters really bug me (I never use WW mode).

I have to say I am not normally a flyer of Blue aircraft, but I do fly them around 25% of the time.

When I compare the two major Luftwaffe Fighters, my vote usually comes down on the side of the 190, because it fits my style of fighting nearly perfectly. Ie. BIG guns, lots of speed, and excellent maneuverability at high speeds.

Curiously enough, I find I do better flying 190's than I do flying Allied aircraft. Which is a function of the way they are modelled. They are better. They shouldn't be, but Oleg has swallowed a lot of myths re. the P-51, .50 calibre MG's etc.

In my opinion, the 1944 190D-9 is the best overall aircraft in the game. It can do pretty much anything, dominates at low and medium alts, and competitive at high.

As far as the 109's are concerned, I do have a softspot for the 109F4. For my money, it is easily the best fighter available in 1941. Unlike the later model 109's, it maneuvers very sweetly, combine that with a nice climbrate and decent guns, and you have a beautifully balanced machine. Don't really like the later model 109's, with the exception of the uber G2, they are too heavy, and unmaneuverable at higher speeds. (as they were historically) They do have the monster 30mm with its overmodelled accuracy to compensate though.

190 quite easily for me , a bit like comparing a BMW M3 to a Volkswagen sport car, both are good cars , but one gives such impression of quality , speed and comfort of use , sums up the feeling i have while flying 190 compared to 109 .

109 is better in 1vs1 though , its amazing climbrate and accel makes it competitive until the end , Emil is one of the best in 1940 , 109 Friedrich dominates 1941 like few other aircrafts dominated their era in WWII IMHO , then 109 G2 and further MW50 versions are competitive until the end of war , but flying the 190 is just another experience with far more pleasure for me , there 's more to it than just performances or efficiency in dogfights to me , then there is also its good range , ability to perform ground attack well as opposed to 109 , nice cockpit visibility overall , great agility at high speed , firepower , toughness , nice design etc..

I voted all, even though thoughout the years it's been 190's more than anything else. Last few years more 109's, Mustang, Tempest and Migs.

I'll always love the 190's the most - even the poor A4 with the screw in it's throttle http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If you are talking about the 1944 Doras, then all you need to do is turn on the Erhote Notleistung and fly. It's just an added fuel injection.

If you are talking about MW50, this is a different story. This is 50/50 mixture of methanol and water. (Hense MW50) It was sprayed into the supercharger as an anti detonant to allow for higher manifold pressures. You should only turn it on under 100% power. If you turn it on over 100% power you burn your engine. Also, don't use it for more than 10 minutes or you burn your engine. I believe all MW50 equipped aircraft were supposed to have enough Water/Methanol for two 10 minute runs. I also believe that there was either a 5 or 10 minute cool-down period that was supposed to occur before using the mixture. I don't believe that it is modelled correctly in the game.

So, turn it on from 1-99% throttle and you will be fine. It actually (isnt supposed to) kick in until you are at 100% or better. But I am not sure it is modelled correctly in the game.

Hope that helps you enjoy your water/methanol with greater confidence...
