Since there is some considerable interest in the Hurricanes, here's some good data on the various models:

Judging by the lack of responses, it would appear that those who are interesed in the Hurricanes are not interested in performance.

mmm, almost sig~worthy but a bit elaborate...how's this?

Kinda complicated, mmm....

Oh well. Vickers cannons are always interesting.

Kinda complicated, mmm....

It loses the meaning. I didn't just mean performance charts, I meant performance in general. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Soon enough, someone who doesn't "get" the whole cr@pplane thing will be here to defend the lowly Hurricane. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif364 rounds of 20mm for the IIC model.
So that should give us 91 firing times.
Going againest early Ki-43's or Zero's I been able to get about 1-3 before running out of ammo or getting flamed from the sky myself.
I find the Hurricane IIC a Great Ki-43 Killer. Just can't let them sneak up behind you.
Also I got to try out those Aerobatics speeds.
270 mph IAS for a loop
210........ for a roll
290........ for a half roll off a loop
300........ for an upward roll
Thank's for the info Sky Chimp... great reading material. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

that a Mk.I with wodden fix propeller ist faster than one with CSP , interesting

Thanks SkyChimp. I'll direct my Squadron (The Tangmere Pilots) to this thread. We're currently flying Gladiators in Malta, but soon we'll be getting back into our trusty old MkI Hurribus.

I've never see speed/height charts like that before. It seems some strange things are happening below the gear change position. There seems to be no emergency boost in use, although it was available from 1940 on.

The fixed prop went faster because it was optimized for speed, the twist can be just right for the speed whereas with a CSP the twist has to be compromised.

Hurricanes in general did not do too well against Oscars or Zekes, they had a small speed advantage if any, only the dive saved them. A long campaign between the two types in Burma led to a sort of parity in losses.

well , the Hurricanes that flew agaisnt the japanese forces over Malaya/Singapoore and Burma had dustfilters - that decreased the performance a lot.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gifHurricane IIC... one of my Favorite rides.
I've been using it in a number of QMB and FMB lately againest Imperial Air Groups.
And along with P-40 series and P-38's... it's becoming one of my IJN or IJA Killers.
I find it handles quit well againest the KI-43's if you stay away from a Full Turning engagement. The Hurricane can turn very well... and it has a small speed advantage if you keep your air speed up. Also it has good armament with most models... againest either Japanese Aircraft.
Stay away from climbs or full turns with either the Zero or Oscar... or you'll be in flames in no time. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gifThanks for posting SkyChimp http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif, do you have the flight performance data for the rocket equiped Hurricane?... that would be very much appreciated http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

That's probably because most of those interested are probably British and still in bed at 5 o'clock in the morning. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif
Thanks for the info about this fantastic little aircraft SkyChimp, it's much appreciated.

Several other variants of the Hurricane appeared including the Mark IID with two 40mm cannons mounted under the wings. Most of the Mark IID's were shipped to the Middle East, North Africa and Burma, and one squadron flew them in northern Europe. The Mark IV Hurricane showed little difference from the Mark II series, but it had improved armor and universal wing mounts for various ground attack roles. Several other versions of the Hurricane were created including Sea Hurricanes designed for convoy escort and equipped with arresting hooks. From 1936 until production ended in September 1944, Hawker, Gloster, Canadian Car and Foundry, and Fairey built 14,233 Hurricanes. One of the last Hurricanes built was purchased by the Hawker Company and named "The Last of the Many." It is maintained in flying condition to this day.

The Hurricane will become very popular in BOB. Not so much now, but I think it's fun to fly.
