I play 1946 with my CH Fighterstick,Pro pedals and Throttles.
I've had them for 2-3 years now and am very happy with them.

Since the 1946 re-mod I have run the pitch & elevators at 100 across the board. While that is touchy, it does work well for me.

However, the problem with with the rudder settings are a bit frustrating. For me, it is either way to touchy with side to side movement or so tight that its hard to move smoothly onto a target. out of a thousand (1000) shots I may get 10 hits on the antenna or nav light.

Perhaps some of you ald timers to the CH pedals could post your ini settings and advise how you found to best set up for a (smooth as possible) flying experience...

thanks

I use il2 Sticks & this is about the best for me, but it just isn't smooth...still jerky in the pitch movement & sometimes the rud just doesn't want to move and then all of a sudden it moves , but to much...

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gifPapaG39, use IL2Sticks to save these settings in a profile, paste that profile contents here, so we can see what setting is in use for rudder...

Man, this forum moves fast...lol
I also get a bit of "up" bouncing on a diving strafting/bomb attack which tends to throw your aim off & by the time I get back on target its to late...crash...boom...fire etc...lol.., but I believe that is just in the game itself...unless you guys don't experience that scenario..

Im having a REALLY annoying issue with my CH pedals too. The brakes always seem to stick. This results in a lot of rollover on landing.'

I've had the sticky breaks in the past also.
uninstall the CH control manager (save any profiles first) and then reinstall & re-calibrate everything. That will take care of the issue. I got that bit of info from the CH techs & confirmed by other CH pedal users.

In your CH profile you have a curve for the all the axis you can play with.

PapaG39,
I see that you have both dead zone and filtering set to zero for all axes. I approve!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I trust you're aware that when you have wind and turbulence enabled in the Difficulty section, you'll get buffeting when near the ground (this effect seems to simply switch between "on" and "off" at some particular altitude.) Could this be the cause of your "up bouncing" during strafing/dive bombing?

Another thing that's VERY important for good flight control... trimming, especially in pitch (elevator). This is another source of induced pitch oscillation when airspeed changes.

Have you verified that your rudder potentiometer is still providing smooth response by testing it either in the Windows test utility or the CH calibration app? If there is some twitchy response present, you can to at least some degree ameliorate it by applying a small amount of filtering in IL2 Controls setup.

Hope this provides some help...

Ha ha...no, I'm familar with low level turb...it's not that.
When I am doing a long dive at a target once in a dive I will get a "bounce" just a bounce up & that throws the shooting solution way off..
the Pitch trim is almost impossible to keep up with..just a 1 click up or down will throw it off in the other direction...I don't know if it's my rig or the game. I know how to trim an aircraft.

I have not verified my rudder potentiometer (don't even know what that is..lol..)
I've never heard of a windows test utility or a CH test utility... I just recalibrate once a week or sooner if I think it needs it.

I do know that the wheel on the left side of the fighterstick doesn't work as it use to.
I have always used that wheel as the prop pitch control. It use to work great until one of the patches messed it up. Now I just use the + & - keys for manual prop pitch.

What I was wondering mainly was: are other CH users experiencing a hard time fine tuning the controls for smooth flight/shooting, or is it just my computer or controls that are a bit off.

It's not real bad, but it is difficult to hold on a target...hell, it's impossible to hold steady on a target for more the 1/2 a second. Just kinda takes the fun out of it..
