Just wondering if anyone has tried using this new headset. I am thinking of getting it because I would much rather plug my mic into the usb hub sitting on my desk, than the jack that is on the back of my computer. I fly with some friends and we tend to use teamspeak and I was hoping to get the chat through my headset with the remainder of the audio through my speakers.

I believe that there are other USB headsets out there and I want to know if this is a good alternative to the free headset mic that came with a Dell I bought about 6 years ago (computers have come and gone since then but the mic still works great)

Thanks

Hi BailOut,

I have recently changed my MS Sidewinder Voice to a Logitech USB headset. I am very pleased with it.

1) Voice quality seems improved with the USB set. My squad mates tell me, my voice comes across crystal clear.

2) I like it, because the USB solution allows you to split the sound to two different devices. WinXP looks at the USB headset like a SECOND SOUND CARD. With other words, I run the FB sound over my surround speaker system and my TeamSpeak over the USB headset.

Works like a treat, I suggest you get it.

Cheers,

Wow. That sounds really good.

I was actually thinking of getting a new headset for quite a while and this sounds DEFINATELY interesting!!!

Are you talking about the "Logitechâ® Premium Stereo USB Headset 30" ?

What's the sound quality like? My old one sounds like a tincan, especially the bass /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

In case anyone else tries the following: I plugged the headset that came with SOCOM for PS2 into my usb hub... seemed to work just fine for hours, then WHAMMO... crashola. I didn't know for sure what the problem is, but after testing and testing, plugging in and out, I'm sure that the headset was the problem. I shoulda known better, but I didn't so I tried it. Don't do it, trust me!

USB headsets are fine, what I would recommend is purchase a headset with ear pads that cover your entire ear. Sound quality is improved dramatically!

Hi,

we have a squad mate mit the logitech USB set. Everytime he joins an FB game his voice is fading away (we use TS2 for voice comms). Outside the game it is okay.

He swapped it and was fine since.

And the noice cancelling of the mic appears to be inferior to the Plantronics line.

My 2c,

Cheers

I might have to add something here: Occasionally I will be on teamspeak with my squad mates with excellent quality. Then I join a server on HL and after it load FB, the volume of the headphones mic and speaker are turned to zero. Of course it is no problem, as I just alt-tab out to the sound settings. But it sure is weird.

I cannot remember which logitech model I bought, but it was not the cheapest. But, at least for me, the quality is sooooo much better than the "normal" headsets.

Cheers,

One Problem,

Any Canadians know of a retailer in the Toronto area (or better yet online) that is selling the Logitech usb headset?

Not to worry. Get it on line thru www.ncix.com (http://www.ncix.com) (vancouver). What you pay in shipping will (probably) be matched by what you save in not paying PST.
