Hello all,

I just returned from the Oktoberfest in Munich. I went with my mom because she was invited by some of her close friends. Anyway, I sadly didn't get to take many pictures because the weather didn't play along. It was raining all day so I had to take all my exterior shots with an umbrella in one hand and with the other holding my DSLR camera and adjusting the zoom with the tip of my fingers. Annoying as hell! Stupid weather! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Anyway, here are some pictures. There were tons of babes there. Sadly most German girls, especially the hot ones, smoke like crazy. It's pretty sad seeing such gorgeous lovely things sucking in on the cancer sticks. Such a waste...

I had a good time. The music was nice, the atmosphere was fantastic and the beer was good. I had two liters of Löwenbräu. There were nice and interesting people at our table so the conversations were very interesting and worthwhile. Well, let the pictures begin!

The Paulaner Beer Hall...

http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/4294/oktoberfest1hu9.jpg

This was the beer hall we'd be enjoying ourselves in. It belonged to the Löwenbräu brewery and is called the "Schützen Festzelt"...

The mood inside the Schützen Festzelt....

Resi, our table waittress bringing us some Bavarian food. Good stuff, good stuff. Heart-attack causing but damn it, it tastes so good! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
http://img65.imageshack.us/img65/156/oktoberfest5ox2.jpg

I was not to be dissapointed! A BABE sat at our table. Her name was Tatjana and she's 1/4 Russian, 1/4 Ukranian, 1/4 Polish and 1/4 Bulgarian. She has German citizenship and speaks (get this!) seven (7) languages! She works as a translator for a Munich based company! She was very smart (no sh*t) and interesting to talk to. Best of all, look at her.... you know! DAMN!!!!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
http://img65.imageshack.us/img65/4417/oktoberfest6xp1.jpg

http://img65.imageshack.us/img65/5121/oktoberfest7wh3.jpg

Me, my mom and Tatjana. Look at those...you know!!!!!
http://img250.imageshack.us/img250/3452/oktoberfest9hb0.jpg

Me with Tatjana. Yes, I could feel those "things" hitting me. It was awesome! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif
http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/2642/oktoberfest12wo2.jpg

Me (far right) with other friendly folks at our table. The man next to me worked for the Allianz Arena (the stadium of FC Bayern Munich). The hottie next to him was in her mid 40s and very talktative (in the friendly way). Her husband (not in the picture but next to her) was very quiet and conservative. Never opened his mouth once. Looked totally bored... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I also met a famous ex-German soccer player: Günther Netzer!!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

He was basically seated right behind me!!!!! What an honor it was to meet this man! He was very reserved though and I talked to him twice but he never really answered, just sort of nodded that it was ok for me to photograph him! This guy is a legend in Germany. Read the Wikipedia article on him. He played for clubs like Real Madrid, Borussia Mönchengladbach and of course the German National Team.
http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/544/oktoberfest13rm7.jpg

Random night shots of the Oktoberfest, especially the many beer halls belonging to various breweries. Again, apologies for the poor pictures (not straight etc.). It was raining and I had my left hand holding an umbrella while my right hand did all the adjusting and shooting.

The Paulaner Beer Hall. What GREAT memories!! I was there for Oktoberfest '95 when I was in the Army in Germany stationed and training with the Germans in Hannover and Ehre Lecine! I also participated in the Helmstedt Marsch (Boy was THAT long). That was one of the most memorable times I ever had in the Army. Thanks for posting these photos. That brings back memories of a very good chapter of my life.

Was in Munich in 87 but not for Oktoberfest. Can remember the Hofbrau Haus very well from that trip.

Also went to see Dachau when I was there.

Ah man, only one month left to go and these pics are not making the wait any easier.

Christian, a little voice inside my head is telling me not to show this particular thread to my wife. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

But what the hell! Life is supposed to be adventurous right? I'll show her when she gets home from work. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

What, no pictures of your sister ??

I have a question about Tatjana, though. I read (many years ago) that only persons who had a German mother were eligible to become German citizens. So how could Tatjana have German citizenship ? (I'm guessing that the answer is that what I read was wrong.)

It's not so black and white with the German system. My father applied for a Canadian citizenship when I was 10. Although I had never been to Germany before that time, I had always been a German citizen.

Germany's got a few of these rules.

There's a joke that if your grandfather had a German shepard, you can apply for the German citizenship. When I went to the Rathaus in Bad Staffelstein to submit my application for the citizenship, they asked if I had all my documents. I said sure and presented a wallet sized photo of my German shepard. The woman at the counter was stunned for a minute until she realized the joke. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

It was at that point I was introduced to everyone working in the office. It seems I made their day. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

I live here at Munic since 64 years - and the beer and the girls are real and really very nice
one year after one year with 365 days.

I love it, too.

Our Octoberfest here sux. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif They don't even allow beer at it anymore. What's Oktoberfest without beer? it's mainly craft dealers and such. There is a lot of good food, but it's just not the same. I have to drive 50 miles to a decent celebration. I am envious.
