There is a master "get" command. Has anyone tried walking each variable with this?

I've not tried it yet, but perhaps the docs are misleading us.

Baldie,
What is this "master get" command you speak of? I have never seen any docs on it, but, then again, I haven't looked at the docs for the last couple of patches. I'll give it a look this afternoon when I get home and try it out if I can find any info on it.

accessible get
4 get(parameter key)
return: parameter key and 1 or 0 - wheither this key has get method
allowed in the current context (I.e. allowed during the mission
but not while mission is loading).

I set up a google group for combat sims. Devicelink hackers are encouraged to join the group.

Since this forum is flakey at best, the google-group solution should be a good one. Everything sent to/fro is archived for searching http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Is there any particular reason that this thread is in ORR Baldie? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Baldie,

What would be the purpose of walking each variable? The way I read it, this query is simply to verify if the game is ready to send answers to a particular query. For example, there's no use in requesting the engine RPM if the game is sitting at the main menu. I had originally planned to poll this query until the game was ready then start feeding my instrument panel. I never got around to implementing it. I just kicked off my panel after I was sure the game was ready.

There might be an error in the documentation of device link. All interesting getters and setters should be tested regardless of what the documentation says. Perhaps more getters and setters are active then the documentation states?

You know like Mission Builder Forum, Paint Schemes Forum, Movie Makers Forum.. etc. God forbit they add a DeviceLink Forum.

With my devicelink module (tm) (http://search.cpan.org/~matja/Games-IL2Device-Link-0.02/lib/Games/IL2Device/Link.pm), you can easily do this:

<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">
use Games::IL2Device::Constants qw( :all );
use Games::IL2Device::Link;

my $devlink = Games::IL2Device::Link->new('localhost', 27001, ( TIMEOUT => 5))
or die "Unable to connect to client.";

foreach (keys %Games::IL2Device::Constants::KEYS) {
$devlink->get($Games::IL2Device::Constants::KEYS{$_});
print "$_: " . $devlink->reply . "\n";
select(undef, undef, undef, 0.1); # don't flood client
}
</pre>

Have yet to test the module with 3.03 tho..
