View Full Version : Time off for SH3, how long?

I have taken half a month off work (starting on the 17th March) in anticipation of turning into a bearded hermit in front of SH3!
http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

Lucky me, I don't have a wife and family to worry about (or is that "Lucky me , I don't have a wife and family to bother me"?)

Any-one taking more time off work?

I'm married with my work. So will play now and then... how unafortunate!

A real family means real trouble, but also real happiness. As when one on the forum has reported a new born baby and so on http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Yes, I agree with you Jose.MaC.

If I had already met the woman of my dreams, then I would start my own family ASAP.

Haven't met her yet, but working on it! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

In the meantime, SH3 beckons...

Ahh, I suppose I'm just obsessed, but if I had only 2 days worth of non-stop play (after release) it would gnaw at me inside when I had to stop. I think it would haunt my mind until I played on it again. That's why I've taken so long off work!!
To get it out of my system.

Taking time off work to play SH3? LOL, now thats dedication. And quite frankly I don't have to feel so bad now about not doing anything really worth while last summer... besides a few strip joints.

It's the largest continuous stretch holiday I have booked off this year - all because of SH3.

Sad? Arguabley!

A lucky break? Definately!

A holiday that I wouldn't miss? You betcha!

I can't wait http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

You took time off work to play a video game?

I take it work ethic isn't one of your strong suits. lol

Well, when I'm at work I work hard, but I don't take my work home with me (I'm not paid enough to).

History and computer games/simulations are my life outside of work, so yeah, I booked a holiday just to play SH3. My boss knows about it, and she's cool with that (she did laugh at me though!)

"To each his own" is what I say.

In fact, she welcomed the fact that I wanted to book a chunk of my holiday time, because I had been saving it up and it needs to be booked before Easter. So you could say it's holiday time that I had been putting off in favour of work.

I havent had a decent day off since I heard of SHIII. All my leave time off will be saved till SHIII is in hand. Now is that dedication or what! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You guys are going to hate me, but I'm going to get paid to play SH3 when it comes out! I'm a senior in college and come March I should know which law schools I've made it into, so homework will no longer be my top priority. Furthermore, I work for the university parking service as a booth cashier and have all of the graveyard shifts when I can go 6 straight hours without seeing a single car. Normally I brought homework along, but I'll be buying a laptop this March and fully intend to install SH3 on it and bring it to work with me. So I'll be getting paid $9/hr to play SH3 from release until August. How's that for a sweet deal?

However, come August law school will envelop my life and I'll be lucky to touch a computer game ever again afterwards, so I suppose I'll need to get it out of my system by then.

Dont mean to rain on your parade Bob, but what if SHIII gets delayed? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/1072.gif

If it gets delayed, Fubar, then I will truly get caught out in the shower!!

What's done is done, although I might be able to sweet-talk my (female) boss into moving my holiday!

I'm convinced it'll never come to that though, this time it's for real.

Regards,
BobTuck.

Ugh, talk about jinxing a release date. I bet you wouldn't throw off the flowers on your U-Boat before you got out of sight either? (sorry, just read Steel Boat, Iron Hearts). http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

KC23, I wouldn't want to break the hearts of those flower throwing nurses on SH3's docks!

Saddly I dont get vacation. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif The company I work for dosn't think we are good enouph for it I guess. But, I get a steady pay check that is comfortable for me and my family. Things have been slowing down at work for me though and I'm hoping to get laid off from work. Not to worry though, I can get unenployment benifits from the state to hold me over until work comes in. So, I might even get 2 or 3 months off depending on how long it takes for work to pick back up. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif Thats what I'm hoping for!
And the wife is pretty good about letting me play my games as long as I dont over do it. And I like that because when my head hits the pellow at night it aint SH3 that I'm gunna wanna snuggle up to!!! Hehehe http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I got about a good months worth saved for either beta testing or at least if it does go gold I will test and report as I go. I'm sure something is missed or bugged. SHII was like that. Things like cursor errors and such. Though I know this is a new dev team we are only human. Surely every sim/game always had a future patch soon after weather it be to stop bugs, game balance, or possibly multiplayer exploits.
