Depth and scale of strategic regime, prorabotannost' of tactical and the dynamics of aviasimulyatora as a whole compose by geympley "steel monsters".

Basic special features of the game:

* Association of three genres (strategy, tactics, simulator) in one project.
* Scale naval and air operations in the Pacific Ocean theater of military actions in the period from 1940 through 1948.
<span class="ev_code_yellow">* Possibility to change history in the course of the development of global campaign.</span>
* The large selection of historical scenarios with the accurately repeating reality conditions.
* Collection system by yunitami of experience during the war shooting and the studies.
* Completely three-dimensional drawing.
* Possibility of developing the new types of equipment, new technologies - from an increase in the power of aircraft engines to the guided missiles, the biological weapon and the A-bomb.

Additional special features of the game:

* Influence of weather conditions (fog, storm, rain) on the war shooting on the strategic map.
<span class="ev_code_yellow">* Global play map of Pacific Ocean</span>, which covers Japan, Australia, the western part of North America, oceania and the part of India.
* Simple and intuitive control in the strategic regime, which makes it possible to check the development of naval bases, planning the actions of fleet and the supply of troops by fuel.
* Rich selection of tuning for control of the play time (******ing, acceleration, the controlled pause).
* Conducting reconnaissance with the aid of the aircraft, the ships and the radars.

The fleet of player in the "steel monsters" consists of the battleships, the aircraft carriers, the destroyers, the cruisers and the rocket cruisers, the submarines, the torpedo boats, and also the tankers and the transport ships. In the air battles participate the destroyers ((ie...fighters)) (both screw and, in the later stages of the games, reactive), attack aircraft, torpedo bombers and strategic bombers. For the game in complete agreement with the drawings and the historical evidences are modelled 86 types of yunitov. In the process of game is possible the development of technologies, the appearance of new types of armament, capable of completely changing balance of forces on the global map. To player are accessible about 100 technological improvements (upgrades), which have an effect on the combat effectiveness of ships and aircraft. Besides the global strategic regime, whose action passes on the map of Pacific Ocean region, divided into 127 zones with 40 naval bases, player can participate in 20 historical scenarios, among which battle in the atoll of Midway, Japanese Admiral Yamamoto's loss, srazhneniye for Guadalcanal.

"steel monsters" - game about the battleships and aircraft carriers, titaniums of the naval battles World War II, about the captains and the Admirals, about the simple soldiers of two powers, which were joined in the fatal struggle. In the "steel monsters" the player will be able to feel himself be commander-in-chiefing, on whom lies the responsibility for fates of thousands of people and its country, by the commander of small subdivision, and even by simple pilot, who battles with the enemy in the sky above Pacific Ocean. The common picture of the immense battles, which occurred in the Pacific Ocean theater of military actions during the second world, will be formed from these fragments in player.

"Blitzfront" preview (Russian) says you can turn OFF the many small battle alerts and let AI take care of them, allowing player to focus on the big battles if he/she wants.

I am guessing the name Steel Monsters is for Russian market, like Pacific Fighters is called Pearl Harbour in the Russian market.

Nice to hear there will be full task forces and many available ship types. I wonder how the simulator part of this product will work and look like though.

As a long Fan of empire building Space Strategy games, this is what I need for Pacific. This should be a hardcore simulator of Pacific War. I am thinking it uses AI tactical combat to conduct all the shooting battles--with the player having the option to jump into a particular machine and control it.

On top of that, the opposing side AI must make top level decisions...similar to the Space Strategy games but hopefully more in depth. The big difference with Pacific is the mapping of resource areas, transport routes, basing areas, lines of communication, etc...this the AI must handle and you don't see this in the simple star maps -- "dot maps" -- of the Space games.

LEXX_Luthor... Sorry for the picture size... I'm at work and couldn't resize them with Photo Bucket.
I haven't tried the PC Strategy Games yet... such as Total War Rome, Korsun Pocket or the naval game Fighting Steel. This is something I have been looking into lately.
I use to play the Book Games from Avalon Hill such as France 1940, Luftwaffe, Wake Island and a few others.
They had the Set-Up's [as in France 1940] what if France had made Tanks and Aircraft instead of the build up of the Maginot Line and also had the Political What If's.
Great Games if you had the time.
France 1940 would take over 8hr's of game play for one side... and you had to play both sides as France would always lose if playing between equal partners.
Pacific Storm looks to be a Mint game to try out though.

Yes, we have a unit editor in the game. If you are playing strategy level of the game and develop necessary technologies, you can make your modifications and upgrades of units, save them and build them later on in the game. This upgrade data will also be visible when you load into tactical battle.

See unit editor menu:

If you are in diployment mode of the tactical level of Pacific Storm you can choose unit modifications created while you played stategic level. Sorry, had to post again.

Anyone get a chance to see the planeset on the Pacific Storm forum? I'd like to know how the battles are resolved, for a sim like this there seems to be a lot of good land, ship, and aircraft details. Will the planes have accurate speeds and attack profiles? Will they try to avoid AAA from the ships or make coordinated torpedo attacks from multiple directions on the same ship?

Will there be suicide planes and perhaps the Ohka for late war Japanese side? Will there be straffer "solid nose" B-25's for anti-shipping runs? Or the F4U-4 and P-47N for the late war Allied side?

This looks like the perfect strategy game for us Pacific Theater buffs, I like what I see so far at any rate. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I know we have radar upgrades but not sure what types.

Will we be able to simulate the large carrier strikes and have hundreads of friendly and enemy aircraft in the air? Will we be able to see all that while in the first person view when we control the aircraft?.

Just one question, and I chose here rather than the game's own forum to ask this, as the Pacific Fighters people know exactly where Im coming from on this.

What does Northrop Grumman say about the use of 'their' aircraft and name? Not only in the game itself, but in screenshots effectively advertising your upcoming product? Are they cool with that, or just havent seen it yet?.

40 ships and 200 airplanes of different type maintain playable fps.

You can't give tactical orders to the fleet and aircraft when seated in a cockpit. You need to 'leave' this unit to control the situation.


Northrop did not say anything so far. Since PacificStorm is not an air sim game, we might escape their claims. Oleg warned me about possible problems. Our layers are working on it. Donnow what will come out of this. Well, the worst things which can happen is that we won't be selling the game in the States or will have to distort and disfigure the aircraft and fleet and name the units in some weird way. You guys living in the US live in an insane country where everyone is obsessed with suing someone for nothing.

Any chance you guys will put in the option to turn off those friendly and enemy triangle indicators and the landing guides for more realism? It can be fun trying to determine if a plane is enemy or friendly, or a ship for that matter as well. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

As for the legal issues, I remember many games that simply changed the names. There was a shooter game where your the gunner on the Missouri, but the box carefully mentioned that you were "On a Missouri like Battleship" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Anyways, I hope it all works out for you guys, I'd really like to get a copy here in the U.S. when it's finished.

Tittarini I hope you do not make your planes arcade just to satisfy some lawyers.

The thing that will make this new game special it will be the ability to fly the planes of both sides through a cockpit.

I do not expect it to bee of the same quality of a dedicated Simulator but of good quility never the less.

Please do not make them arcade or you will lose sales.I do not mind buying it through the internet if it comes to that. I hope you solve this problem.

A nother request is for you to keep it on a Historical line or make it where you can follow this game through a Histrical line where it would be hard to change History and a Hypthetical one. The Hypothetical if you want to change History.

This way you satisfy both groups. Dose that like to follow history and those that do not care about history and would like to change history with fictional weapons and unrealistic campaigns.

I don't think there are many fictional weapons...although 1943 seems a bit early for Nuke possibility (and the B~29s or whatever can carry it then). http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Miami, you may be slipping up here. If the Japanese player decides to go South Pacific instead of Midway, this is realistic campaign because that is exactly what the Japanese were planning. Megatons of Real Life (not gamer) 1942 historical Japanese troops and supplies waiting at Truk Island for shipping out to assault Fiji Island would make realistic gameplay if the Japanes player does not make a mistake like...losing 4 carriers in a totally worthless battle for nothing. Same with Ussian player making the Choice to bypass the Phillipines and Stop The War a year early. This option would make realistic game play.

They even have the 1946 aircraft, there's some screen shots on the forums of the current planeset and shipset. The only thing that worries me is some of the screenshots show a plane and it has 100 "Hit Points" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif But for a simulation like the old PTO and PTO2 this would be a big leap forward. There's still a few planes and variants of planes and ships I could think of that they could add if possible.

Looking for Ki~44 high altitude interceptor. It was used in Defense of captured Dutch East Indies oilfields and was the first home defence interceptor that could reach and take down B~29s. Most western flight simmers never heard of it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

If made correctly relative to other aircraft, basic Hit Points for each tactical aircraft unit is Good for a strategic simulation asking AMD/Intel to calculate aircraft dogfights from China to Fiji. Oleg said our own New FM 4.0 will slow us down....to what we don't know, maybe 20 planes, some on the servers, some on the tarmacs.

there are no fictional weapons, only some experimental and expensive things like this (http://www.pacificstorm.net/museum/x4/x4.htm) German (Ruhrstahl/Kramer) X-4 which could theoretically be delivered to the Japanese.

I understand what you mean Lexx, I got the chance to watch the 12 minute video and the hit point system with the flight simulator still looks good, it all definately looks better in full motion rather than screenshots.

After all, the old PTO games and even Harpoon 3 uses the hit point system as well, this seems to have all that and more so far.

Talon brings up a valid point though. Perhaps the guys over at Lesta Studios could come up with a solution to either allow the user to create and add in all the types and models of ships they wanted for the tactical combat, or perhaps there could be some kind of open architecture to allow other ships to be added to this sim after it's release, either by fans of the sim or the creators of it.

The third option would be for a pay addon that included many more ships to have and control.

But the 3rd Partie ships and planes have to be added to the strategic and tactical AI. The opposing Nation AI must be able to decide to manufacture these new models and deploy them properly across the Pacific (and possibly Indian Ocean!!). Maybe its just a matter of entering dates of possible service and a number representing the desirability of the new model for military operations.

Ouch!! You may have a valid point there Lexx, I hope it's a matter of dates and such vs. programming the AI for each new unit for two different types of AI strategy.

Check out their forum, there's talk of considering making the sim more mod friendly or perhaps even the chance of an SDK for the sim after release. It's nothing tangible yet, but it's good to see they are at least considering having a more open architecture for changing the sim parameters, adding more ships or planes, etc. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The game isn't out yet to call it manure.

It already has more ships than Pacific Fighters, and it throws in the element of real time grand and tactical level strategy as well.

Should be a good strategy game, much better than the old P.T.O. and P.T.O.2 games.

There's room on my hard drive for Pacific Fighters and Pacific Storm when it arrives.
