View Full Version : IL-2 FB/AEP + PF Merged Install question

I've had IL-2 Forgotten Battles and the Ace Expansion Pack for quite some time and until recently had uninstalled them from my PC. I finally decided to purchase Pacific Fighters so I reinstalled IL-2 FB/AEP. I then purchased Pacific Fighters from Direct2Drive, downloaded it, and installed it. It never gave me a "merged install" option and it installed PF as a stand-alone product which showed to be version 4.01. So I uninstalled PF and went to install it again just to make sure I didn't miss anything, and it's definitely not giving me an option for a merged install. Is there some patching I have to do to FB/AEP first? What am I missing? Is there a way to merge them manually? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

One of the experts will probably be along to answer your question fully soon, but I believe the download version of PF can only be installed as a standalone and can't be used for a merged install.

geoffspear is right:

This is the standalone game and not the expansion.

This is stated on the page where you probably go PF from. ( Direct2Drive PF (http://www.direct2drive.com/248/product/Buy-Pacific-Fighters-Download) )

So, this will never work! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
(Go get yer hands on the 'Complete Edition' DVD, GoGamer.com (http://www.gogamer.com/cgi-bin/Gogamer.storefront/EN/product/001IL2C))

Thanks for the help. FYI, the boxed version is also a "stand-alone game", it just happens to have the capability to merge with FB/AEP. Also stated on the page where I ordered PF is "The Pacific Fighters Download is the same exact game as you would get in a retail store."

It was only after I purchased it and tried to install it that I realized it was NOT the "exact same game". I know now I can't merge it automatically with my FB/AEP, but is there some work-around I can use? Any way to do it manually? Any assistance would be appreciated. It's a decent game stand-alone but it seems severely hobbled.

but is there some work-around I can use?

(Others have 'tried' before: there's no way known to merge the D2D PF DL version with FB/AEP ...)

Look for the CD-version, should be quite cheap nowadays.
You can buy a downloadable version from ubisoft's UK website... (see here) (http://shop.ubi.com/Prod_ExtDesc.asp?catalogid=358&id=16) (But, if that will be mergeable?)

Good luck!
